Cori didn't know how to ask. Maybe there were no real answers about Cyrus. But as of yet, he was definitely not a good fit at the pizzeria.
Cori asked Cyrus' uncle how he was back home. Of course, it sounded as if his uncle didn't know him at all. Or maybe he didn't want to know Cyrus' real handicap.
Cori knew Cyrus was afraid of money. It was the touch that made him squirm. He wasn't a genius at simple math either, and yet he was in heaven if there was a video game to play. Yes, Cyrus had some issues.
Of course, Cori smiled more trying to sugarcoat Cyrus' life just as much as his uncle was.
"We just have to take care of him, make sure he likes it here, I guess." He told Megan once he got off the phone.
She was in their new kitchen making sloppy joes because Cyrus really liked sloppy joes.
She looked at him as if she knew Cyrus very well, already.
"I just hope he won't get on the internet." He shrugged. Suddenly, he thought of the YouTube documentary he'd watched of an individual who had no one to look out for him and had ended up in jail because he'd done things people had told him to do. Most were just people following this person on YouTube.
"Well, we'll have to make sure he feels comfortable." Megan nodded. She put the frozen tots in the oven. Another favorite of Cyrus'.
Cori only sighed. At least, Cyrus hadn't been homesick. He could tell he liked doing stuff on his own. Maybe he'd watched how others were back home and he was only following their lead. Really, he was the quiet sort, but it made Cori sad to think someone so normal-looking would be this way. According to Megan, she was certain he had high-functioning Autism.
I'm waiting next chapter dear
ReplyDeleteShe could be right.
ReplyDeleteYour blog is amazing.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DeleteCori es una buena chica, me encanta como se preocupa por Cyrus. ♥
ReplyDeleteCori is a good girl, I love how she cares about Cyrus. ♥ I'm glad you got that much out of this part 💖❤💕💖 Megan and Cori do care about him, yet I feel Cori feels he has suddenly adopted a grown kid.
DeleteHola! un post genial. Besos
ReplyDeleteCori seems to be very caring, thinking about Cyrus so much. Cyrus could be just an introvert but maybe Megan is right, it could be some form of autism.
ReplyDeleteHard to tell as some things are interpreted as autism these days.
ReplyDeleteI loved Cori's care

Uy tendrá autismo, pobrecito te mando un beso
ReplyDeleteGenerally girls (women) care about boys (men) like Cori! Am i correct?
ReplyDeleteI never thought that Cyrus might be autistic, but it makes sense, especially the part about him liking to be alone. Now I'm more interested than ever to find out what happens with him. The idea of him being vulnerable enough to be scammed by YouTube followers is sad. It's very kind of Megan to look after him and make his favorite foods.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all of your wonderful comments, especially: "I think of Will Ferrell when I think of Bob Ross." That's hilarious! And I totally see it. That's so cool that you used to have a Bob Ross workshop at the library. And I'm sure your Labor Day potato salad and pudding pie were delicious. The salad sounds, ahem, labor intensive indeed! And that's so sweet that the five-year-old in your life was so looking forward to that pie. I hope you have a lovely time at your gathering. :)
have a nice day!
ReplyDeleteNão sei...as vezes a pessoa é apenas tímida e gosta de ficar sozinha, ser autista é bem mais que isso... Acho muito legal cuidar dos outros como a Cori faz...
ReplyDeleteBeijos!😘
I don't know, i don't know sometimes the person is just shy and likes to be alone, being autistic is much more than that... I think it's really cool to take care of others like Cori does...
