Easier said than done

Frankie stared at the text. Was there anything else he could say? He knew she wouldn't text back.

Of course, he frowned more at the thought of maybe she wasn't a she at all. It worried him. Just when he should have given up weeks ago, here he was finding a way to text his fake girlfriend. Girlfriend. He winced a frown. He knew Heather wasn't real..but who was playing Heather?

He left the phone on his bed and shut the door behind him to see what Pixie was up to in the kitchen.

"Another cake?" He scowled. Granted, it was small, but still, there was the mess to clean up. She had batter all over her face and arms. He looked at the walls of the kitchen counter. Honestly, there was so much more than bowls to clean up.

"Want a lick?" She smiled like a happy camper. It only made Frankie cringe as he went to find some sort of disinfectant while she popped the white batter in the oven.

Naturally, she hadn't found a job yet. Frankie sent her links to jobs from his phone daily, but she didn't like any of them. Either the hours were all wrong. And no way was she doing food service.

"You could always teach ballet?" He reminded her at every turn, but she wouldn't respond. It was as if that was a lost cause. "Do you want to be a baker?"

He didn't know.

"I just need to do things," she sighed. She said she was doing her best not to spend money, but of course, she had his kitchen and probably made more sweets than he ever thought possible.

"You need to do some cleaning too." He was even lipped.

She only smiled at him as if she was only doing this to irritate him. "See this is why I need you as my life coach." She held a laugh. "You are always so good at telling me what I should be doing."

Frankie only hugged himself. He sighed. What had he got himself into?

"You need to find a job soon." He stared at her as if she better listen. "I'm not going to help you if you don't help yourself."

There, he'd said it, but by that laugh of her's he doubted she was taking him seriously.

  3. Pixie seems like a free spirit -- and also maybe a love interest for Frankie. Perhaps she'll help him uncover the Heather mystery. It's interesting that Frankie suspects that Heather's not who she says she is, and that she may not even be a she. Cute apron in the collage; I heart cacti. :)

  5. I think Frankie means the best but it seems he isn't getting to Pixie. Is she taking advantage of his goodness? It's hard to tell. Possibly he doesn't mind helping her. Maybe she will be back on her feet again. Baking can be therapeutic. Anyhow, their dialogue sounds natural.
I wonder who is playing Heather too.
