Here we are together

 "Oh, I've been listening," Mario smiled at Bren who was busy in the kitchen cleaning out the crockpot of cornbeef and cabbage. After smelling it for a few hours, they had decided to chunk it. Evidently, they weren't Irish enough to enjoy it. 

Mario brought back some green milk shakes and burgers. 

"Listening to what?" She looked at him suspiciously.

"The radio." He slurped on his shake while hers was waiting on the kitchen counter. She grimaced as she worked on the stinky odor in the kitchen. Oh, what a mess.

"The opera is coming," he told her.

She nodded. She couldn't imagine going to an opera. She occasionally might catch one on PBS, but that was years ago.

"Madame Butterfly." He was pleased to show her he had already purchased the tickets on his phone. It was on a day she didn't work.

She smiled. How could he? Really?

"Just one catch we both have to dress up." He told her.

"Oh, I dunno. I doubt we have to be fancy." She shrugged.

"Nice will do, and I have a suit."

"You in a suit?" She couldn't help but laugh.

"Uh-huh." He got the burgers and fries out then. She went to join him. Was it normally possible to enjoy something like that? These days?

"Oh, you shouldn't have," Bren said as she pushed back her hair and bit into a fry.

"But I should." He looked at her. "Dating is important. This is a date." He smiled.

She couldn't help but shake in laughter. No one had ever taken her to an opera.
