Time flies, messy as the mud on your truck tires

Rico knew he'd have to wait. He doubted they kept Tristan into custody. After all, it was rather petty and of course, a domestic investigation. Worse things were always happening.

He reached for his phone and texted Mona. Maybe she could shed some light on this. Maybe she could be the one who kept Tristan here. Of course, he got nothing in return. He doubted she read it, but then he noticed the text had been read.

Why did Liv have to feel she was in trouble? He felt so bad. Thinking now how he could have been in a fight with Tristan. Maybe that would have been the best solution. If they'd had a fight in the grocery store.  Honestly, he didn't know. It was a warped situation. And he felt he couldn't possibly help Liv.

They would just have to wait it out and what came of it. But in his eyes, he knew there would be the next time. And lord knows, he thought, what Tristan was capable of. Why was it always like this?

He heard Tristan demanding they call his parents. He'd be out of here soon enough. But they hadn't responded.

Rico felt it was a wake-up call. What the hell did that mean? He sighed as he hugged himself sitting on the cold bench in the hallway. Yes, it was so clinical and yet he could hear Liv crying. She was having to talk about the past.

Finally, Mario showed up and gave his brother a bottle of water.

"How's it going?" Mario asked.

"I dunno." Rico was about to give up. If only he'd known. What had Tristan really done to Liv? Why wouldn't she tell him? "I just feel..you know..it's all so shitty." He winced a hot tear. How long would they wait until something set Tristan off. By then it would all be too late.

The walls were so still at the moment. Nothing much was happening and then Tristan and Liv's mother showed up.

  7. Very dynamic chapter with Rico being worried about everything that happened with Tristian and with Liv crying. I wonder what we happen next now that Tristian showed up with Liv's mother. I guess they let him out of custody pretty quickly.

  9. It's interesting how the incident with Tristian shines a light on his and Liv's shared past. And, of course, how it all looks to Rico: "He sighed as he hugged himself sitting on the cold bench in the hallway. Yes, it was so clinical and yet he could hear Liv crying. She was having to talk about the past." Your use of the words "cold" and "clinical" communicate to us everything we need to know. Maybe, in time, Liv will be able to tell Rico what happened. And Rico will be there for her.
