A May moment

Truly Alex thought he might be dying. Was it only a bad case of spring fever?

Yes, someone came into his life like a preview of a hit movie of his/her life. No. Honestly, he didn't feel like her around him.

Yes, the guy came right in and ordered a pizza and didn't even give Alex a second look, which really hurt at the time. Still, Alex could not stop watching him.

1. This guy looked more feminine than Alex did.

2. And he seemed to be perfectly fine with how he looked, too.

It was mesmerizing. Alex needed to talk to someone about it, but Liv wasn't in the mood to talk. She was practically silent these days. No returning text nor phone calls. Hell, he couldn't even find her at school. What was Alex going to do?

"Well, she isn't talking much to me either," Rico told him. Sure, they went to school together. Went to work together, but she was being very introverted these days. "We'll just have to give her time."

Alex wanted to understand this after all Alex was quite demanding. Maybe even more demanding than one could imagine.

"It's just..I need.." he didn't know where he was going with this conversation. Actually, he was out of sorts. It was hard slipping into just being a guy named Alex. It was so complicated. No one would know. No one.

"What is it?" Rico asked at lunch one day. Liv wouldn't even eat lunch with them.

"I might be in love," Alex finally said. Of course, he hadn't seen that guy since... even if he really wanted to see him.

"You think?" Rico looked at him as if it were funny to think Alex might be in love.

Alex sighed heavily. "I only met him the one time, but..but I'm sure..I'm very sure..." he nodded.

Rico's grin was exposed even if he did his best to keep a very straight lip. "What if you don't ever see him again?"

Alex just about lost it. He didn't want to think how awful it would be. He nursed his bottom lip. Why couldn't he meet this guy again?

"Be patience, my friend," Rico nodded as if he had good experience with this. Alex would try. What else could he do?

  8. So many emotions for Alex! "It was hard slipping into just being a guy named Alex. It was so complicated. No one would know. No one." It was good to see him branching out, even without Liv to lean on. But I was still glad Rico was there to catch him. He's going through some heavy stuff, and no one should have to do that alone.

By the way, I enjoyed reading about library Alex in your comments. It was interesting to learn that he's a foster kid -- and that his sister didn't want him ruining her good library card standing! It's fascinating how these microcosms of life transform and make their way into your stories. It's like how everything's connected.

Finally, thanks for using not one but three of my zebra prints in your collage! I love how they alternate with Alex's and his new love's faces. :)
