Looking at it now

All Rox wanted was to hear some good news. She'd hate to spill her guts to Nonnie, but she needed someone she could talk too. Of course, Nonnie looked so happy. Rox smiled too as if she knew exactly what was going on..although, she didn't.

"So.." Rox practically laughed and somehow their hands clasped as if they might be all of giddy six-year-olds. "It happened, didn't it?" She sighed as if she was happy for Nonnie.

"God, how did you know?" She seemed hurt that Rox knew she and Weezer were a full fledge couple now.

"Oh, I'm just happy for you, I really am." Rox sighed once more thinking she shouldn't say anything about Pan or Gabe or about her life either. This was Nonnie's day.

"Let's have raspberry gelato and you can tell me all about it, or not." She went to her fridge and luckily the little clear jar was still untouched. Pan had not gotten into it. She dished out the treat in her little bowls she'd found on clearance god knows where and had yet to use.

They sat down at the little dining table. First Nonnie mentioned all their troubles with Mona and Hoyt.

"I don't know why they're even there," Nonnie shrugged as she looked Rox in the eye. "It's so awful that we have to live with Tristan and Dale's exes." She shook her head as she took another spoonful of the gelato. Finally, she smiled.

"I just decided, if..if Tristan can make a go of it with Dale..then..then I should just move on with Weezer, you know." Nonnie nodded as she took another bite of the treat.

Rox nodded.

"You knew, Tristan from before?" Rox squinted as she need another spoon of gelato.

Nonnie nodded. "I don't want to get into it, but he's been a good friend to me and I'm glad he's there, you know."

"Oh?"

"He's like a big brother to me," Nonnie told her.

"And..and you and Weezer are happy?"

"Uh-huh!" She laughed. Rox envied her so much. She never remembered being that kind of happy with Pan. It had always been listening to his troubles. How sad he was which in turn made her sad. She knew of his suicidal tendencies. All she'd ever wanted to do was take care of him, but now it had become tedious. And they were going nowhere.

Rox looked around the studio. This was it. This was all there was with Pan.

  1. Rox and Nonnie over the rasberry gelato treat, to discuss the good news - Nonnie and Weezer becoming a couple.

  2. It's nice to find a use for little bowls you find somewhere. :)

And poor Rox sounds like maybe she needs a new start.

  6. What a layered conversation! We have Nonnie and Weezer making it official -- love that! --, the Mona and Hoyt drama, and Rox admitting, at least to herself, that she and Pan are going nowhere. And yet this is the part that grabbed me:

They sat down at the little dining table. First Nonnie mentioned all their troubles with Mona and Hoyt.

"I don't know why they're even there," Nonnie shrugged as she looked Rox in the eye. "It's so awful that we have to live with Tristan and Dale's exes." She shook her head as she took another spoonful of the gelato. Finally, she smiled.

When Nonnie puts it that way, "It's so awful that we have to live with Tristan and Dale's exes," the Mona and Hoyt situation seems very funny. You have such a way of weaving offbeat humor into even the most serious scenarios. It's one of the things about your writing that I admire the most.

Thanks so much for including my yellow shoes and floral print in the collage! It's cool how the shoes are sort of peeking out. πŸ’›πŸŒΈπŸ˜πŸ’™
