And so it goes

Truly, Pixie never knew she would ever be in these circumstances. Honestly, she wasn't sure she knew what to do. Especially, when she knew she would never be the same after having Blossom.

Still, she took it in stride. It would be OK. And it was the first week or so. The baby slept like an Angel. And the next week too. Yes, everyone passed her around and watched her sleep. She waited to see if Megan (her friend who already had an infant) could detect anything. She did not. After a while, she passed the sleeping bundle of joy right back to her.

It went on for weeks. Pixie couldn't imagine what to do. Yes, they even took her in. Blossom was fine. Everything was fine.

"Enjoy it while you can," said the nurse. Pixie hated to ask, "What do you mean?"

It must have been the fifth week when Blossom found her voice. And oh, did she have a voice. It made Pixie jump. She hated to be in a state of a nervous wreck because it made Cyrus so uneasy.

"What do we do?" He looked as if he was not ready for this. Pixie only gave him a sigh.

"Check the signs," she told him.

He looked in her diaper. Nothing wet nor stinky. He held her close. She simmered down.

"See you can do this?" She smiled all the while she wondered if she could do it. Oh, she hated to see Blossom cry. It was so hard to know what she could do. But the sleepless nights began.

Maybe breastfeeding was not enough. Or so Megan's grandmother had said. Pixie knew the old woman wanted to rub the baby's gums with whiskey.

"That'll settle her down," Meme said.

Pixie looked at her blankly. "You did that to Megan?" She was aghast.

"Shh." Meme practically pressed her forefinger on Pixie's mouth. After all, they were both up at three in the morning. Meme lived down the hall from Pixie and Cyrus, "Don't tell her that."

Pixie wouldn't. No, no..this would just take some time. Although, her bits of patience were wearing thin.

"I can see to her," Meme told her.

"Oh, no." Pixie held the crying baby close to her. She would just nurse her. She would be a Koala. Yes, didn't they say they were the best parents?

  3. I'm glad that the birth of Blossom went well, and that the little one finally "spoke." I can see how the silence would be scary for new parents. But Pixie is finding her way, and Cyrus too. Beautiful! 🌸🌸🌸

Yes, Jeopardy is going into reruns soon. I think it's just a summer thing, for a month or two. Of course, after that, with the writer's strike, who knows? I did hear that Mayim wouldn't be back until the strike's over in an act of solidarity. Which I respect and admire. But the game isn't the same without her! 💙💙💙
