Nic showed Liv just about everything he knew of in his part of the city. She was interested in the little things around the area. She enjoyed the cat cafes and there was even a squirrel park nearby. Honestly, the first three days felt so in sync. Sure he called Tristan to let him know Liv was there and all was well.
Tristan was working overtime at the zoo. Something about the mating season for some animal Nic had never heard of. Dale would have surgery soon to remove her thyroid. Yes, they were all caught up in a matter of minutes. No, he didn't have to talk to his sister, but could she please call home. Her parents wanted to hear from her.
Liv was indifferent about the matter. She didn't know why they couldn't call her. But she went off to where she was sleeping and he guessed she called home.
Of course, he was happy he found someone who could make a cheap copycat version of Kraft's spaghetti. She knew the right season blend and it was all at his fingertips in the kitchen. He just didn't know. Funny, how something he was homesick for wasn't that far away, after all. It was true, having Liv here was like being home.
But then, Felicity showed up. She didn't come out and say it, but he knew that look on her face. WHAT IS THIS? Was he playing house with someone else and it wasn't her? Of course, he fumbled through introductions. Immediately, Felicity talked down to Liv.
"Olivia, maybe you could stay with me. I'll show you what Seoul is all about," Felicity was straight-lipped. No way was Nic going to let Liv stay at Felicity's. It might end in a catfight.
Of course, neither said anything about the resemblance. Like maybe, they'd been separated at birth. Besides, Felicity was closer to Nic's age. She was in her twenties. Liv was almost eighteen. One more thing Felicity said to him more than once.
It practically made Nic jump. What did she think was going on? It made Nic nervous. So many times, he wanted to call Tristan and ask him what he should do? But then again, Liv would be going home. It was just a visit. Something he kept stressing to Felicity, but he knew she didn't like it.
"Look, you know I like you," Felicity confessed the day before he had to go back to work.
Naturally, Nic was afraid he looked a little stupid when she said it. Honestly, he'd wanted to be the one to tell her that. He sighed as he cleared his throat.
"I know...I mean, I thought so. Really, I like you. It's just now-"
"Now what?" Felicity's eyes lit.
"It's just since I met Liv-"
"What are you trying to tell me?" Felicity swelled a frown.
"No, it's not what you think," he winced hard. "I was homesick. And what if the reason I liked you was because-"
"Just don't even think it, will you?" She grabbed his hand there in his kitchen while Liv was out trying to find the best Korean corndog.
That's when he kissed her before she could kiss him. Nic wanted to make the first move. He'd never made the first move in a relationship.
Wow good for Nic.
ReplyDeleteSo... I think the title is an REM reference? But the collage has Eurthymics lyrics?? :)
ReplyDeleteCat cafes... I want to go to one. I keep seeing them in the streaming walking tours I watch. I like how Felicity is straight with Nic, about liking him- why play around?- but at the same time I don't want her to be mean to Liv! And ooh that ending! Sometimes a perceived challenge can be a motivator lol
Suerte por Nic. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteOther nice chapter, I love all of your posts!
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing
I hope you are well
Kisses ♥
pozdrawiam - super
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of the song 'Jealousy in motion'. Felicity is jealous of Liv. Poor Nick, right in the middle of the triangle.
ReplyDeleteBuona domenica carissima, ottimo lavoro, un abbraccio๐บ
ReplyDeleteI'm really enjoying this storyline! This part is particularly beautiful:

It almost made me wonder if Nic had feelings for Liv. But then he had that confrontation with Felicity that ended with him kissing her! Very interesting! ๐ฎ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฎ๐
I hope that Dogs for a Cause is going well. And that you had a fun trip to the pumpkin patch today! The husband and I may go to a festival on Sunday if it doesn't rain. ๐ถ๐๐ถ๐๐ถ๐
Thanks so much for using my florals in the collage! As always, I love the REM and Eurhythmics lyrics. ๐๐ต
