in the midst of a melt down

When Cori stepped out of Megan's room, he didn't see Melvin and Caitlin anywhere. He blinked, thinking that was quick.

Actually, he didn't want to imagine what might be going on. However, he did hear soft laughter coming from Caitlin's room. Perhaps they were just talking. He didn't want to jump to conclusions about how Melvin could move at warped speed.

Cori went and did as Megan asked with the pizza. He heated it up, but almost burned himself. Perhaps he should have removed the pepperoni first. Then again, he wasn't really thinking about food.

As he thought of Megan's version of Melvin, Cori was beginning to think he didn't know Melvin at all. Melvin was always going somewhere. A party every night. No wonder the dude never graduated from the University.

Melvin was so friendly and he laughed a lot. These were manners that Cori didn't have and he thought if he was around that kind of person maybe he would be happier too. Of course, Melvin was always there to help. He'd get Cori whatever he needed, and never asked for anything in return.

Yes, Cori felt a little uneasy about his friend. Honestly, he didn't know what to make of him.

Cori winced thinking how hard it was to make friends. He'd never had any while growing up. Instead, he'd been tormented early on and hid to the point that landed him in special ed. He couldn't say now if it was really true that he had Aspbergers, but he'd passed the test and somehow went on with life in the end, slowly melting away what had been a state of the existence of his past.

And Megan was so easy to be around. Whatever she wanted, he would do. He was easy that way even if he did his best to live within his frozen boundaries. Some said he was a genius with computers. Actually, he was just trying to get by.
