little qualms everywhere

"Why is it, Caitlin asks me about Tommy all the time?" Tori looked at Megan as if only she could solve this mystery. "She kept asking me if he was well. You know, if he'd been sick."

"Not sure," Megan shrugged wondering what Caitlin was doing right now. She figured Caitlin was with Melvin. It was obvious to her what Caitlin really needed and it might not have anything to do with sex nor companionship. As it was Caitlin thought at times Megan was a real Mother when it came to her little habit. Megan supposed it was all her fault because she didn't let Caitlin smoke in the apartment.

Tori looked sleepy now as if the thick Italian chocolate might have been best dripped on a cupcake instead of drank from a cup. She practically had a chocolate mustache.

Megan looked up to see Dylan full of laughter when he looked at her face.

"Oh, Dylan did you put something special in the hot chocolate?" Megan wondered if they were both drunk.

"Maybe," His eyes fluttered as if it was a very happy drink.

She'd detected the rum and Megan was OK with rum as long as one had a little and not a lot. She knew too much rum could bring a fit of anger on. Her grandfather had beat in a door more than once. Of course, he said it was over his card games, but Megan and her Nana knew it was his good times of drinking rum with his friends and it wasn't in hot chocolate.

Cori left before the hot chocolate was ready. It was just the three of them. And Tori was still talking about Caitlin.

"I don't want to hate her, but..but I don't like her very much," she said and of course, Dylan looked a little confused or dazed.

"She has that effect on people," Megan winced, wishing Cori was home. She was starting to think the hot chocolate might have been a bad idea now.

"I don't want to see her with Tommy," Tori began to pout, but Dylan touched her lip with his finger and for a moment Megan thought they might make out. Instead, Dylan got a cleansing wipe from his cross bag and cleaned her face, even if he were a little tipsy himself. Megan almost laughed thinking he might miss her face altogether and fall on her.

"I don't think he's her type," Megan assured her.

"Tommy doesn't have a type," Tori snapped as if Megan was totally wrong. "He loves being by himself. He hates everyone."

Megan didn't want to listen. The rum was making Tori bitter. She never sounded like this. Usually, she was quiet and always kept to herself.

"Hey, it's going to be Christmas before we know it," Megan got up with a smile hoping the talk of Tommy was over. Although, she didn't know what to do with either of them. She went to get snacks from the kitchen.

This meant finding a big mixing bowl and pouring in cereal, leftover Halloween candy, and mini marshmallows, hoping no one had any food issues. She brought it to the coffee table and took a handful and started to eat. Tori laid her head on the coffee table.

"God, she looks so uncomfortable," Megan said.

"What?" Dylan looked at Megan ever so puzzled. Megan wondered if they should put her to bed.

"You really like her, don't you?" Megan sighed and Dylan nodded as they struggled to get her up and to her room.

"I guess Caitlin's being a butthead." Megan found herself saying this after they got Tori on her back with her shoes off. Dylan only nodded as if he was sick of Caitlin, too.

  3. I wonder what is bugging Tori. I hope that a good night sleep will help her with whatever she's dealing with.

    1. Possibly, she just doesn't want Caitlin around the people she adores. Maybe she knows a lot more about Caitlin than she even knows. It is interesting how some people are about certain individuals that come in to their lives.

    2. In a previous post Melvin told Caitlin that Tommy was HIV so Caitlin was wondering if that were true..so she'd asked Tori some a vague questions about her friend. Naturally, there could have been better communication.

  5. I loved the chapter. It's just as bad when someone doesn't let someone new into the circle of friends, but it's also bad to lose your friends to someone new.

Well, I have seen rum do some peculiar things to people over the years. Oh, and I did make the hot chocolate recipe I spoke of. It has a little corn starch and instant coffee in it. Find out more here!
