All so quite fetching

Maybe Roman was just waiting for LaLa to mess up. But she didn't come home. She'd text about a department dinner. The holiday parties had already started. Evidently.

He'd only shrugged then. He guessed he understood. It just felt to him that she could do no wrong and he could do nothing right. As it was Eddie told him to come up to the hospital roof with him. Of course, Roman rolled his eyes at that, but why not. They got on the elevator and rode the slow ride. Actually, he'd never been this far up.

"Are you sure we're supposed to be doing this?"

"I don't guess we're supposed to," Eddie shrugged, "but it's not against the law." Of course, he knew the way. After all, Roman was practically a lost deer in the dark stairwell, but Eddie was right at home. And it really was beautiful to look out at the city at night, even if it was a bit cold.

Eddie handed him a cold drink. It was only a Red Bull. He lit a cigarette and took a drag. And handed it to him.

Roman wasn't sure if this was a good idea. Not that he thought it was pot, just the idea of sharing a cigarette with a stranger. Not even Deano would do something like that these days. But Roman only sighed and took a drag as if it was best to accept Eddie's friendship. After all, there was no one to talk to.

They went to the edge but there was a railing. Roman followed and looked down. He was certain he might throw up. Eddie only smiled at him.

"Do you live with anyone?" Roman asked, thinking it was a stupid question. He nursed the sickening sweet Red Bull.

Eddie shook his head, no. He said he wished he had a beer. He took a sip of the Red Bull. Suckers and beers were his favorite. He didn't know why he didn't like Red Bull. "Not even with Vodka."

"Well, hell, my friend, you are just trying to stay up all night if you drink crap like that," Roman said as he finished off the can of Red Bull and took the cigarette from him.

"We? We're friends?" Eddie laughed.

"Well, hell yeah, anybody who's got a Red Bull for me, must be my friend." Roman grinned back before he took another drag off the cigarette and handed it back to him.

Eddie was closed-lipped as he smiled back with a nod. His hair blew in his face, and for a moment Roman thought he might be just sadder than he was.

"But you know, cigarettes are bad for you," Roman sighed. "I  quit smoking back in high school."

Eddie nodded. He promised he didn't smoke all that much. Cigarettes were so expensive. "I just like to see how long I can make a pack last." He said he'd gotten the pack last July.

"Last July?" Roman couldn't believe he'd smoked a cigarette that old. "Hell, I would have done that pack within three days. You are something."

"Am I now," Oh, the look in his eyes was irresistible. For the first time, Roman couldn't believe his luck.

  11. I like how Eddie's strange vibes take a turn for the flirty: '"Am I now," Oh, the look in his eyes was irresistible. For the first time, Roman couldn't believe his luck." And the timing is right, as it seems like LaLa's on her way out. Finally, Eddie's face claim does indeed look soulful!
