"My little brother knows nothing," Mario grumbled over his last cup of coffee for the morning.
"What do you mean?" Teegan was behind him about to wash out her cup and bowl from breakfast.
"Oh, I dunno." He smiled at the thought that Rico might be right. "Rico thinks LaLa likes me."
"I can see that," she smiled. "She totally hates me."
"What?" Mario winced hard, wondering if he had a head made of brick. He was that dense, evidently.
"Oh, that day I was with you at the grocery store," Teegan smiled once more as she put her dishes in the drainer. "She was seething."
Mario shook his head, "But she has a boyfriend."
"Really?"
Mario nodded after he took a sip of coffee.
"Well, I have a girlfriend. She has nothing to worry about," Teegan told him.
Mario cleared his throat. He wouldn't ask to clarify. He just didn't know. "How come-"
"How come I don't ask her to come around?" Teegan cracked a smile. She went to wipe down the kitchen table.
Mario nodded.
"We haven't been together that long," she told him. "I met her on an app." Teegan shrugged. "Andi is really a private person."
"Oh." Mario watched Teegan get her backpack to leave for classes at the hospital.
He'd never even thought of finding someone to date on an app. Granted, maybe he was just cheap. Maybe this was the real reason he'd never had a romance. He didn't think he was lonely. But the idea that LaLa really liked him. Honestly, he was afraid he'd let her down. After all, she did have a boyfriend and no way was he brave enough to intervene.
Still, if she'd said something he might feel different. But he doubted it. If she knew the real him, she would know he was quite boring.
sometimes I'd like to read people's minds - I would know then who is worth talking to

I would like to know Lala's Feelings! Bye the way, pls let me to say that all chapters's photos are very good quality and perfect! All of them unique.
ReplyDeleteAh, so Mario now knows that LaLa is lusting after him! His take on that is funny and a little sad:

Mario thinking he's too cheap to find love -- and also that LaLa would find him boring -- make him very endearing. I hope he gets what he wants in the end, whether that's LaLa or someone or something else. :)
By the way, that's so funny that Mona Lisa is based on your friends, the sisters Mona and Lisa. Their parents had a real sense of humor! On a related note, I often wonder if Bob's Burgers' Tina and Louise are based on Tina Louise of Gilligan's Island fame.
Oh..I love that thought about Bob's Burgers! Mario..I dunno..its hard to say about his expectations. And yes, I had hoped you would find him endearing too.
DeleteI thoroughly enjoyed this chapter. Keeps interest to the last line.
