Was it Monday the thirteenth, already? Cyrus didn't think it could be a chance for bad luck, but then Kyle caught him early at the coffee shop. He dropped in before his work at the school to see how life was for him in the coffee shop machine world.

"I think it's going better," Cyrus nodded as if it were the thing to say. Sure, occasionally the cappuccino machine was naughty, but he did his best not to be too aggravated.

As it was, they were alone now. Pixie was checking off essentials in the storage room. Cyrus had to look out at the counter, but no one was waiting which surprised him.

"Are you OK with things going on with Pixie?" Kyle asked.

"What things? What do you mean?" Cyrus didn't like the sound of that. What did Kyle know about Pixie?

"I guess she and Frankie are back together," Kyle mentioned he'd heard Hope talk about it.

"What?" Cyrus couldn't focus. He felt as if he might pass out and there was a wink in his eye that couldn't be still. He reached to rub his right eye. "When were they ever together to begin with?" He wanted to know.

"Oh, I dunno. I guess they have known each other since forever."

"Forever?" Suddenly Cyrus' throat was dry. He reached for his cold cup of coffee when he meant to drink from the water bottle. Lord knows, when he might go to sleep again. Life was wired these days. He leaned against the metal counter thinking he couldn't fall apart.

"I guess it happened at Thanksgiving, you know-" Kyle shrugged.

"Thanksgiving?" Cyrus let out a laugh now as if it were some kind of relief. He shook his head, no. "Pix was with me." He held on to the handle of the cup as if he might be the coffee master after all. He'd done a lot of watching YOUTUBE these past few weeks. He'd even told Pixie each recipe he'd learned and all the information he had on the green coffee bean. Of course, it had been a bit much and she slept in his bed while he kept googling on his laptop. No way was he going to let Pixie down now.
