"I just thought you should know," Mona went straight to the source. Maybe she was Liv's friend after all.
Of course, she'd come unannounced. It was as if Rico was in shock. Of course, she couldn't just talk to Liv. Rico had to be there too.
"Tristan is living with Nic."
"What?" They both looked at her as if Tristan was just a foreign word they didn't know the meaning of.
"Yeap, he moved in." She festered a perturbed look as she crossed her arms. "I had to actually sit next to him, too."
"Did he say anything?" Liv wanted to know. She was all bright-eyed as she reached for her phone.
"What are you doing?" Mona squinted then. She hoped she wasn't going to call him.
"I should let my mom know. She..she needs to know about this." Liv looked worried as she paced about the kitchen. Evidently, the favorite room in the house. They had cheese and grapes ready for the taking.
"Let me do it," Rico took the phone from her.
Mona felt like kicking something. Those two were definitely a couple. And she envied them so much. At the moment, Nic hadn't even called her. He was supposed to call, but he'd text that he was busy with something.
"Does..does Nic know who he is?" Rico looked up at Mona and handed the phone back to Liv.
"I didn't tell him anything." She pressed her lips tight.
"You never told him about Tristan?" Liv practically yelped.
"Well," Mona took a breath. "I didn't want to go into a rant about him. I just..wanted to forget him."
She was ready for a meltdown as she sat at the dining table. Rico went to get them cold water.
"I know, it's hard to talk about him," Liv said as she gave Mona a pat on the back. "I just didn't think..he'd be back."
"It's not like he went to prison," Rico said. "It was like a government camp."
Mona gave him a funny look. What was that supposed to mean?
"He's probably struggling too, you know. Maybe..maybe Nic is just who he needs," Rico nodded.
Mona shook her head, no. She knew Liv didn't believe that either. Tristan was a horrible person. Why did they have to put up with a time bomb like Tristan?
Oh no
ReplyDeleteVery interesting.
ReplyDeletePobre Tristan!

ReplyDeletecomplicated but interesting to read
ReplyDeleteUy las cosas se complican te mando un beso,
ReplyDeleteInteresting to read :) Love that :)
ReplyDeleteOh no. And the "government camp" made my ears perk up. I wonder what happened there...
ReplyDeleteTruly a dilemma. Do they just keep hating Tristan and hope he goes away, or will they help him? I think he was referring to Tristan being in the Youth Corp. Which I know isn't exactly a government camp, but I feel they keep tract of those who might be too old for juvie.
ReplyDeleteThis says it all " "What?" They both looked at her as if Tristan was just a foreign word they didn't know the meaning of." This installment made me realize just how much Tristan's moving in with Nic and Mona affects everyone -- not just Mona and her romantic aspirations with Nic. I don't blame Liv for being unsettled. And yet, Rico brings up an important point too: Tristan needs help. The question is, how to get it for him?
ReplyDeleteSo the collage, just, wow! I can't believe how much of my stuff you crammed in there. I'm truly humbled. As always, you made it look fab! :)
I did hear that As We See It was based on an Asian drama. I guess it really is true what they say -- there's nothing new under the sun! :)
I loved so many of the lines, but I think this was my favorite —"Well," Mona took a breath. "I didn't want to go into a rant about him. I just..wanted to forget him."
ReplyDeleteThat image was so powerful amid the narrative.
