Her blood pressure was a little high. But it was only Braxton Hicks's contractions. Just the thought of it, made Caitlin numb now. She just needed to be a little more careful. Watch what she ate and nothing to eat after nine p.m. So many rules and the hospital was full of sick people. It made her cringe that she was even here in the little cubical with only white curtains for walls.
"I watch what I eat all the time," she told Deano.
"You have to eat for the baby, not just what you want to eat."
"But..but he likes what I like to eat." She sat their comfortably as could be in the exam room.
"She." They did know the sex of the baby now.
"Well, it feels very much like a he," Caitlin told Deano he kicked so hard.
"Oh, sweet Caitlin, we need to think of names," Deano told her as he brushed the hair from her eyes.
"We need a lot of things," she told him. "Quit worrying about Levi."
"Why are you mad at me?" He asked as if this was the first time she was really listening to him. "You don't like to talk about the future. Like marriage and moving."
She only sighed as she hugged herself.
"We'll get married, OK." She gave him a look as if he was stressing her out.
"You make it sound like the worst idea," he seemed down.
"I don't want to spend money on a huge wedding. Besides, I'm too big for a wedding gown now." She was in a pout.
"My brother has a house in mind, already," Deano told her.
"What if I don't like it?" She protested.
"Then..then we can stay there until we find one we can afford on our own." He was even lipped about it. He was always the practical one. Deep down, she knew this from the moment she met him.
"OK." But it hurt that he hadn't wanted to get this done sooner. She let him know, too.
"I was waiting for you," Deano intertwined his fingers with hers as he held her hand.
"I don't want to have anymore contractions," Caitlin was being honest.
"It's too late now," he told her. "I hear you forget about this stuff after the baby is born."
"I will never forget about contraction. Never." She swelled a frown.
Noce to reading !

ReplyDeleteShe will forget once the little angel is born!
ReplyDeleteGood :-D
ReplyDeleteOuch. No fun. :)
ReplyDeleteJones soda! Love the collage.
Uy pobrecita parece que el bebe va nacer. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that Caitlin's emergency turned out to be just Braxton-Hicks! Still, I wouldn't want to be in her shoes, with the pain and the worry and all the rules about eating. I can totally see why she's annoyed that Deano didn't sort out the wedding sooner. Even though she's stressed about it, every girl wants to be asked.
ReplyDeleteI love the floral (feather?) arrangement in the collage. And your new masthead is so cool. It really drives home the point that this blog is about two opposite but very close best friends. :)
It's a difficult situation, but I hope they can stay together
ReplyDeleteContractions are not easy to bare! Nice chapter. :) Have a good week.

ReplyDeleteI loved the chapter. A good time to talk about marriage and home. About birth, contractions must be terrible
