on the edge of reasoning

 "Doesn't he look like somebody you know?" Alex leaned in and whispered in Liv's ear as they waited for their smoothies at the coffee shop.

Honestly, Liv didn't know what she was talking about. Alex was very she today. Wearing a skirt, showing off those feminine legs. She wore thick platforms and towered over Liv. It was a little much for Liv's taste. After all, she was a jeans kind of girl.

"I have no idea what you're talking about?"

Alex pointed to the guy with the whispy hair behind the counter. "His hair is so much like yours."

"So?" She just didn't know what Alex wanted to hear.

"God, if only he'd turn around. OK, one of his best assets is his ass, but still..wait til you see the eyes." Alex was as giddy as he could be, practically stomping in those high platforms.

"Alex, please," for the first time Liv wanted to act like she did not know HER. Liv hated to be this way, but why did Alex have to be such an uncontrollable fan girl?

Finally, their eyes met. He handed over the drinks. Weezer was on his name tag. Liv thanked him and took the drinks to the closest table. At least Alex followed and sat down. 

"Look," Liv didn't know where to start. "It's all good all the freedoms we have, you know, but you're acting so...um, over the top."

"What?" Alex looked so shocked, as she clasped her hand over her mouth. At least she wasn't being all silly like she was.

"Aren't you with Eric?" Liv looked at Alex, wondering where all this was coming from. "Has something happened?"

"No, of course, not." Alex shrugged with a wince.

Liv nodded as she sipped her thick drink. She remembered the time some girl went crazy over her brother while he was getting a haircut. Evidently, who was cutting his hair was in love with him too because it felt like an hour before it was done. That girl who was gagaga for him was the neighbor girl who only visited her Dad once a month. Later, when she was in high school she had a baby with a guy who went to prison. Liv was thankful something like that wouldn't happen to Alex. Still, she wished Alex thought of his/her surroundings. What if he got hurt? And not just emotionally.

Honestly, she'd never been in a hormonal fit quite like this. Even with Rico it was a steady pace walking through life with him. Maybe there was something wrong with me, Liv thought. She soon shook her head, no.

"Oh, he's so you," Alex bubbled with excitement.

"So me?" Liv wanted to laugh, but she knew Alex was serious.

"I wish he was you," Alex confessed. He took a long sip of his drink.

Liv sighed as if she understood, but not really. She reached for Alex's hand.

"You've got a crazy imagination," she smiled. "My hair would never look that good."

"Yeah, I know, he's not wearing conditioner," Alex nodded.

"Promise me, you're not going to scare him," Liv said ever so seriously.

"I won't." Alex pressed with a nod.

"You must remember how happy you really are that you found Eric," Liv reminded Alex.

"Got it." Alex's blank look did not convenience Liv.

"I know you are the star of your very own show. You just have to own it. Don't go crazy." Liv hoped that didn't sound too harsh, but she really hoped they got out of here before the guy started cleaning tables.
