Halloween is coming

 "Just call me a freak, why don't you?" Ali lashed out at Liv who was trying her best to be there for Ali at school, but she really didn't want to do anything for Halloween.

"Why can't you?" Ali wanted to know. "Are you afraid?"

"Maybe I am," she shrugged. "I don't like Halloween." She slammed her locker and walked toward the entrance of the school. "I have to work at the grocery store that night."

"Seriously?" That didn't settle with Ali. "Well, I have to work too, but I wasn't wanting to go out until after nine."

"Oh, I'm in bed by then," she laughed. Well, probably not asleep, but it was good alone time with some reading, preferably something from the library, but not always.

"You're becoming an old woman," Ali shook her head as if it just wasn't fair.

"Oh, I know."

"Rico's gonna forget all about you someday," Ali told her. "Somebody will come along and just snatch him. You'll be sorry that you weren't more fun."

Liv practically rolled her eyes. Seriously, Ali could be so annoying. "We are just fine."

"Then do something for Halloween." It sounded like a demand.

"Why?" She wanted to be home all cozy and warm. She couldn't see Rico wanting to go out either. "What do you have in mind?"

"I dunno, a haunted house or two. I know of a party not far from the cemetery." Ali shrugged.

"You would?" Liv shook her head, no. She hated to tell her but she really didn't want to go to such a party.
