Every day, come what may

"Are you sure you are OK, after seeing your brother?" Bren was concerned. She knew Liv was growing up in so many ways, and the last thing she needed was seeing Tristan.

"We're fine," Liv nodded as she took a cookie from the dish on the dining table and dipped it into her milked coffee. "Don't worry about me." She smiled with almost a wink. "What about you? How does it feel to be engaged?"

Honestly, Liv was the first to ask. Bren only shrugged.

"Can't you give me more of an answer than that?" Liv practically laughed. "Seriously, this is big news."

"I know. It's just..well..it feels the same." She was even lipped. "I mean..we do love each other but you know, we gotta work too and well..we're always tired." She let out a bit of a sigh. At the moment Mario was working overtime. "I can't really say anything has changed."

"I just wish you'd let yourself get excited," Liv said taking another sip of the hot coffee on this cold miserable day.

"Well, it's not like it's happening next month or anything," Bren told her.

"When do you think it'll happen?" Liv looked at her as if ..was this all it was?

"Oh, who knows."

"Like years from now?" She winced hard, saying she remembered a friend of her mother's. They took forever to get married. "Even their son asked me to marry him before his dad asked his mom." Liv laughed then. "I wonder what ever happened to him?"

"Would you marry him now?" Bren was joking.

"Oh, we were so over. He liked to throw things and practically knocked me out. I got a concussion and everything. Of course, I was four back then. After that, he was only my brother's friend." She shrugged and took another cookie.

"That's good to know. I'd hate for Rico to have any competition." Bren smiled.

Liv only chuckled.

"So you two had some fun?" Bren asked.

"Um, pretty much," Liv'a smile was open. "I just hope his dad never finds out. I mean..I'd never do something like that at his house." She shook her head no.

"Oh, we will see. I have a feeling you're both just a little bit braver now. And when you get caught, it won't really matter after all." Bren told her.

Liv rolled her eyes at that.

  5. Oh, more about Liv and her childhood romance! I love how you give all of your characters such a rich backstory. And this part is so funny: "Oh, we were so over. He liked to throw things and practically knocked me out. I got a concussion and everything. Of course, I was four back then. After that, he was only my brother's friend." She shrugged and took another cookie." Bren seems so wise and worldly compared to Liv, with her thoughts on engagement and how Liv and Rico will get "braver" with their exploits. I like that about Bren; she's very real. 🍪💖😀
