Give me a sledgehammer and give me strength

"Just stop it, will you," Nic thought he might be begging. After all, she'd been in a mood all week. He'd taken Mona out to the upscale place he thought she would like for Valentine's day. Although, she still had the sniffles. But he wasn't certain if she was still under the weather or just furious about Nonnie moving in with Weezer.

He couldn't make this grilled cheese sandwich fast enough. She turned away from him as if he was at fault.

"Look, you have a place to live. She doesn't." He sighed. Thankfully, it was just the two of them, but he really hoped she didn't try to have her way with him because he didn't want a cold. Somehow, she always thought she was sexy with that sore throat of a voice of hers. And she always had to snuggle. Yes, maybe she was just clingy.

He pulled the fries from the airfryer then and got her plate situated. He winced as he sat across from her, thinking they saw enough of each other. He wasn't exactly ready to give up his bed yet. He raked his fingers through the back of cropped haircut and casually nursed his bottom lip. They couldn't be falling out of love. No. Never. He clenched a grin.

He hated to ask about the sandwich. She was eating it. He stole a fry then and dipped it in ketchup. It was so hot, but she turned away. Mona was not in the mood to even share her fries.

Honestly, he felt as if Valentine's dinner had been on layaway since September. That's how long he'd been putting money on the gift card he used. Yes, he'd bought roses with a coupon from some app and got them matching hoodies and sweatpants. Actually, she didn't get him anything at all. And that was OK. He didn't ask for anything.

"Maybe..maybe by summer..you ..we can move in together." He found himself saying.

She looked at him as if he better keep his promise. She might want him to sign something in blood at this rate. Nic just kept smiling. Of course, he had no idea what summer might bring. He didn't even want to think that far ahead. He was getting ready for interviews. He needed to focus on getting a fulltime job. Really, he knew his days were numbered here. He needed to move on, but he hadn't felt like discussing it with Mona.

He really didn't want to make her mad.

  1. Great chapter. I like how yiu describe his feelings for her. She doesn't seem loving. Maybe it is best for him to move on.

  5. Aww sounds like this relationship is winding down. At least on his end!

"I need to know if you feel it to"... giving me Foreigner vibes.

  7. Nic is so much more mature than Mona. Still, if she knew that he's thinking of bolting, then maybe she'd make a change, considering how obsessed she was with him in the beginning. Then again, maybe it's a case of her having bagged him and now being bored. Either way, Nic is so sweet, and I hope things turn out well for him. 💔🤔💔🤔💔🤔💔🤔
