Cuz the potential of us

She was waiting for him. Gabe didn't think it would happen. The pizzeria was closed and she was there in the cold spring air just in her hoodie over her uniform and jeans. Alone.

"You waited for me?" He was on his scooter. Finally, he had something to get him to work and back. It was a Friday night. "Do  you have to be back soon?" It was only a little after eleven.

"It'll be fine," Sammie said. She got on and put the helmet on. They were ready for a destination unknown.

He only smiled. Yeah, he liked the sound of that. If only he could really believe her, but he zoomed on in the little scooter as if maybe he was the master of his domain already.

"Just hang on tight," he'd said before he lunged off. Her arms around his waist were like the ecstasy he'd yearned for.

He wanted to tell her he was sorry that he wasn't here sooner. He wanted to be. He did. In his heart, they were soul mates already. He thought it might be true. Of course, it was so long in waiting. Sure, he'd spent a time or two with a girl. Usually, they were drunk and it wasn't quite as elaborate as one might think. Although, he would definitely not tell Sammie everything. She might loathe him. At the moment, it felt as if she was the center of his universe.

The spring air was fresh. It made him feel they might be one with the earth so when they met on the damp grass near the soccer fields which wasn't all that far away from where she worked, he felt as if it was really meant to be.

Naturally, they kissed like mad dogs. It was happening as he pressed against her. He was the only warmth she'd ever need and they did make the most of the night with their clothes on. Of course, his love-making skills might have been at the speed of sound. They had to do it all over again as if he might have missed something. Sure, he felt as if the smile he saw on her face would be everlasting.

Honestly, he didn't know if it was that good but he would not have a conversation about it.

"You know, there's a lot of things I want to do with you," he told her afterward.

"Like what?" Sammie asked as if he might be the stars that she was actually gazing.

"I dunno. Everything."

"Everything?" She asked.

"Yeah, everything," it felt like destiny at the moment. Like they were aligned by the atmosphere. It wasn't a bad case of spring fever. It was supposed to be.
