Waiting to let it go

Mona didn't know what to say. Seriously Nic was making her furious. How could he be mad at her?

"What did I do?" She hoped Jade would tell her, but really Jade was like a disappearing act these days with Ari. This infuriated Mona even more. How come her roommate was having all the fun with that so-called uncle of hers? Mona was left wondering where her love life was going.

"Maybe it's because, you aren't doing anything," Jade looked at her as if somebody needed to keep up with the dishes. She said every time she came home it was to clean these days.

"Well..." Mona hugged herself. She'd been under the weather. She was tired. She just needed sleep.

"You haven't even gone to the doctor," Jade said before she could even come up with anything. "You need a check-up." Even she didn't think Mona was her usual self.

Mona only sighed and tried to dry a dish or two, but Nic was on her mind. He told her he thought they were seeing too much of each other. She pressed her lips tight. But weren't they supposed to see each other?

"Well, you do make him do all the cooking," Jade scrubbed on a pot and let the frying pan soak. "Maybe you guys need to do more things together."

"Together?" Mona winced. "What do you mean?"

"You have to be a team. Ari and I cook and we clean together. It's not where either one of us has to do everything." Jade gave her a sad look as if she clearly thought Mona was at fault. Not Nic. "Nic cares so much about you. I dunno, I don't see that when you are around him. Are you sure you're really happy?"

Mona drew a breath, thinking it might be time to get out of her sweatpants and old tank. She needed to be refreshed. But she didn't know how.

"It's all Tristan's fault," Mona shrugged. She could still blame him.

Jade only gave her a sigh. "What if it's not?" Jade asked as she was putting things away.

Of course, Mona wouldn't go there about her past. What would Jade know? "You know, there's been a girl over there, lately."

"Yeah, Magz." Jade stared back as if that was old news.

"Oh, it's not her," Mona found herself smirking. "She's new and he's pretty giddy around her."

"See, he's found somebody to be happy with," Jade shot back as if Mona needed to learn from her mistakes.

  1. Interesting conversation. Maybe Mona needs to make some changes, she sounds depressed and stucked in a rot.

  3. You're the best when it comes to tough love talks! Mona seems depressed or at the very least discontent. Jade's advice about sharing the load with Nic makes perfect sense. Her observation that Nic seems to care about Mona but that she's unsure of Mona's feelings for Nic is razor sharp. Maybe Mona's just in love with love, the fairy tale kind where there are no dirty dishes.❓🀷‍♀️πŸ’”❓🀷‍♀️πŸ’”❓🀷‍♀️πŸ’”❓🀷‍♀️πŸ’”

The pink tank in the collage is so cute. And "cranky pants" made me smile. πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€
