it's like a story of love

Well, Mona's mother aka his big sister chatted up Ari so much about the Hoyt and Mona situation that it was to the point he felt he might be selling insurance of some kind to that niece of his.

"Just think of the space," he went with Hoyt and Mona to look at the apartment. It was only a building or so down from where Ari and Jade lived at Crown Point. It was right off the freeway. And the place looked so cozy on the prairie. It was a two-bedroom with walk-in closets and even two bathrooms.

"The kitchen is small," Mona fretted.

"Why would you need a big kitchen?" Ari never remembered her even liking to bake. "It comes with a dishwasher and laundry room."

Hoyt liked what he saw, "Come on, what do you say?"

Somehow, Ari thought of Hoyt as a pirate of some kind, but maybe a gypsy too.

"Yeah, how about it?" Ari kept grinning. He thought about Jade and how Mona really felt about Hoyt, but he didn't see it today. They were holding hands like they were young lovers.

"I..I suppose." She shrugged with a faint grin.

"It's gonna be great," Hoyt smiled, picked her up, and whirled her around as if they might be in their very own musical of RENT.

Ari sighed. He thought his work was done here. God, he hoped this wasn't bothersome. He knew Jade was barely friends with Mona.

"Maybe..maybe we could just check in on each other, like maybe Sunday brunch or something." Ari guessed he could do that much.

"Yeah, I like that idea." Hoyt grinned and Mona smiled back. "Maybe we should look for some furniture now."

Ari nodded. He couldn't believe this. But it might as well be Christmas in August. He knew Mona would be happy if she got to choose everything that was theirs. That was the Mona he knew.

  1. This is heatwarming and beautiful love story dear Ellie. I think most of us can relate to such lovely moments when a couple in love tries to make each other happy as much as possible by investing emotions and money during the process of building their Nest: )
Wishing you and loved ones all the joys in the world my friend!

  2. Hey they're getting their own place! Two bathrooms is nice. I was just looking at apartments as my daughters moved to college and they're nicer than my house! Ha not really but they're roomier and have more bathrooms than when I was renting lol. anyway... nice of Ari to offer to do Sundays with them. He is trying... and hopefully Mona and Jade can get along oe even be friends...

  6. I love this line:

"Hoyt smiled, picked her up, and whirled her around as if they might be in their very own musical of RENT."

It hints that there may be happiness ahead for Mona, even if it's all on Hoyt's side for now.

I also, of course, love the ending:

"Ari nodded. He couldn't believe this. But it might as well be Christmas in August. He knew Mona would be happy if she got to choose everything that was theirs. That was the Mona he knew."
