Derrick raced to Dora and gave her a hug. He told himself it was all because of Delia, but it really wasn't. He'd waited forever to have a chance to see her without Holden.
"Is she really OK?" Derrick winced tears. Honestly, he was that happy to see petite Dora with that sweet smile of hers and her baby-fine voice.
"She'll be OK," Dora assured him. Of course, at first, they thought it was just a viral thing, but Delia had been given so many tests.
"We've seen her all summer," Derrick spoke of Eric then but he was still at work. "We thought she was just fine."
"You know how she eats," Dora shrugged. "All she eats is yogurt."
Derrick winced. Nothing wrong with that, he thought.
"Well, she's got a sweet tooth too. All that boba tea." Dora told him.
Still, Derrick remembered her bringing all those veggie trays over. And she ate lots of carrots and broccoli. He thought she was eating healthy.
"So how's married life?" He grinned, thinking it was best to change the subject. He wanted an inkling of what was going on with her these days.
"It's every day with Holden," she laughed. She worked in the office at his veterinary clinic. "It took some getting used to, but you know, I caught on, pretty fast and I did a lot of organizing. It's good."
"I miss you so much," he told her.
"I hear the new girl, Jade, is working out. Delia has lots of good things to say about her." Dora looked at him as if she hadn't heard a word he said.
Derrick hated for Delia to be out, that meant he'd have to help man the phones. Honestly, he knew nothing about those phones. He didn't want to even go near those phones.

ReplyDeletePoor Derrick
ReplyDeleteFun conversation. Derrick clearly is missing Dora :) And he asked her about married life right after Tristan doing same a couple installments ago! I hope delia is okay and we find out it's nothing bad...
ReplyDeleteSo... yes Purple Machine! I have not tried the shake yet, but I do like some pumpkin spice flavors. I haven't been to a Dunkin since they were Dunkin Donuts lol. They had one in my hometown that had such distinctive architecture. they don't make building like that anymore. Even the new Taco bells are just boxy.
Uy pobre Derrick. Genial fragmento. Te mando un beso
ReplyDeleteyou are always the best
ReplyDeleteinteresting story....
ReplyDeleteWell told fragment! I enjoyed it!
ReplyDeleteGreat blog!!! I always come to you with great interest )) Follow you https://beautypumma.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteDerrick's fear of the phones is funny! I guess he really does need Delia back! Speaking of which, I'm curious about her condition. I wouldn't think that anyone could subsist on just yogurt either, even if it is bolstered by broccoli and carrots. We shall see what the doctor says . . . 📞🍨🥦🥕
