OK, Ari's feelings were a little hurt when Jade snubbed him that way when she was on the phone with her friend. Really, he'd never seen her so cold.
Of course, he kept telling himself there was no reason to be alarmed. Was there? What did he do?
Well, he was a guy who really did know the importance of a relationship. Or so he wanted to believe. Evidently having sex twice a day wasn't necessary for Jade.
Ari tried to ask Pan about this, but of course, he acted as if he didn't have a clue what she was talking about.
"You two are fine, don't get so obsessed. You live together. You have a great place. Give each other some space," Pan told him he'd done this for Rox and it had worked wonders. "You can't be in each other's face all the time."
It just left Ari with a big sigh. Wasn't there anyone else to turn to? No, it was just time to talk it out with Jade.
"So did you have a nice conversation with your friend?" She never talked that much to her sister and they probably texted every day, but it was short and to the point, and usually, it was about recipes.
"It was good," Jade nodded while he went to warm his cold coffee in the microwave. He'd forgotten all about it. Besides, he was thinking ahead. He hoped to secure a better job as if he was in it to win it. Somehow. He'd sent out resumes and such. Just waiting to hear back. He guessed.
Jade then mentioned the word doppelganger. The word was interesting. In fact fascinating that Liv went all the way to Seoul to find her doppelganger.
"Do you want me to show you mine?" Ari cracked a smile.
"What?" Jade wrinkled a grin as if he was just pulling an early Halloween prank on her.
"No, I'm serious." He shrugged and motioned her to come to his laptop. "We don't talk anymore." He said he'd searched high and low in hopes he'd find his father's family. But he didn't have that much to go on. And besides this guy lived in England. "It's just for a while I hoped I had found a brother, but we were like email pals in the beginning." He guessed it was just an accident. "For a while, I wanted to meet Justin. But you know."
She nodded. Although, she didn't see the resemblance. "You don't look anything like him."
He thought they did. He still did. So did Justin.
Jade rubbed his shoulders and even his neck. It was as if she was making up for lost time, or at least he thought so for a minute or two.
Rox felt she hadn't seen Nonnie in ages. Of course, she and Weezer went to visit his dad for a week or so and then there were classes and work and it felt endless of all the things to do. How could anyone enjoy the fall?
She'd made them lunch and Nonnie seemed pleased with the comfort casserole dish of chicken and biscuits and a tangy strawberry salad on the side.
"So what's up with you two?" Rox asked.
Nonnie looked up at her as if what was she expecting? "Do I look like I won the lottery?" She cracked up. She said nothing much had changed. "Our love is as slow as molasses and his dad is one spendthrift. We ended up having to stay in an RV out back the whole time. Too bad we couldn't just drive out of there. It was broken down."
Rox nodded. She could relate. She had relatives like that. "I used to think my Granny was considered a nature lover as much as we had to stay in a pop-up tent camper when we visited. But no, she was just cheap."
"It was OK. I don't mean to complain," Nonnie said. "It's just if it had been anybody else with Weeze would he have treated them better?" She made it sound as if she might be Weezer's downfall.
"Don't worry about it. Weezer loves you. I'm sure he'd stand up for you when he has to." Rox told her.
Nonnie kept forking through the cream veg and tender biscuit. Of course, Rox could see she'd wished Weezer had already told his Dad where to go.
"He gave us some money to go home on and to help with everything," Nonnie then mentioned. Maybe all was not lost.
Rox smiled back as if she knew being meager was the way to go. Although, she wondered if she was spending too much at Dollar Tree to decorate her room.

ReplyDeletewow,,,nice share
ReplyDeleteInteresting
ReplyDeleteYes I remember her shutting the door. Poor Ari! Not bad advice f/ Pan. but ooh doppelganger! That's funny that she doesn't see the resemblance but he did!
ReplyDeleteLife is expensive.
Outer Banks is fun. Yeah a teen show even though they're probably all pushing 30 lol . And the anime convention sounds great! We have a comic con coming up in a few weeks. Hope you enjoy the chill mix :)
Pobre Ari. Genial fragmento. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that Ari and Jade finally talked. Although I think Pan is right too when he said that couples -- especially those cohabitating -- sometimes need space from each other. 💕💕💕
ReplyDeleteThe lunch with Rox and Nonni was interesting too. This part made me laugh:
"Our love is as slow as molasses and his dad is one spendthrift."
Oh, Nonni! I think Rox is right, though. Weezer will stick up for her when (if) he needs to. 💞💞💞
