Hello December🎄

Honestly, all of Thanksgiving vacation, Derrick wanted to stay in and just crochet. It would have been sublime, but there were places to go and people to see. And the whole time, he found himself thinking. "I should be home alone with my yarn."

But he braved it. He helped out with the side dishes at Bea and Frankie's. He even got to hold a sleeping newborn.

It was a day of slumming or so he thought, dropping in for pie, watching a movie on TV at Tristan's. It felt they would never get home and then when they did, Cyrus called to remind them to meet down at the pub for a quiz.

"Seriously?" All this social gathering was sure to make him sick, but he didn't have the sniffles nor a fever, not even a tummy bug.

Of course, he guessed it was a good thing he did go along because he didn't really want to. Eric's old boyfriend Sal showed up with someone new. Really, Derrick didn't know him and wouldn't dare look at him as someone they should associate with.

Derrick got out his yarn and went to work on a crochet critter. It was his other business. He let everyone talk and did what he enjoyed the most, crocheting.

Pixie looked at some of the cuties he was making and she put in an order. The lady at the next table wanted to know the price of them. She ordered a set for her grandkids. Even Derrick's ex wanted one for his little nephew.

Derrick gritted a grin. Yes, it was the holidays. He really hadn't intended to advertise, but it was nice that people were noticing a craft that he loved.

Thanksgiving came and went. And Nic wasn't sure if it was as fantastic as he'd anticipated. In his head, he was going to document the whole thing for Liv's family, but nobody was really helping in the situation. Everyone was a little tired and then after dinner, it seemed everyone wanted to go home. Also, they couldn't connect at a good time. Someone was always busy with something.

Sure, he got to talk to Tristan. He found out about the new roommate.

"Are you sure you love it there?" Tristan wanted to know.

Nic laughed. He did and sometimes he didn't. It felt as if times were simpler back home and yet all he remembered was having to work when everyone else was celebrating. And now that he had a chance, it felt as if everyone else was too busy.

"Stop thinking it has to be a Hallmark movie," Felicity told him. Yes, she was with him and that was good. She was helpful with Liv and she even got to know Woo's niece Sunny who was maybe warming up to Liv.

Felicity and Nic had hoped that Sunny might find a job for Liv at the coffee shop where she worked. Sunny crossed her arms on that one and said NO WAY. "I see enough of this girl as it is."

At least Liv was trying. She'd caught up on all her studies. Still, it was like pulling teeth sometimes just to get her to call home.

"They miss you," Nic told her. Only Liv's glare told him that she didn't miss them. Especially, Tristan.

"I dunno why she can't tell me everything," Nic did feel Liv was being more mysterious than he ever knew.

"Everyone has their own story about their family. It's what they see that you can't," Felicity told him not to let it bring him down. "She  might never tell you."

Yes, he knew there were a lot of things he needed to let go. Except, it was easier said than done.

  1. "I should be home with my yarn" Love that! And ooh pub quiz. Pixie!!

It is easier said than done. I like that Nic and Liv are working through their lives in Seoul. I live for the day when Sunny and Liv are besties. Okay, maybe not besties, but maybe they could discover a common interest in anime or something and hit the anime shops.

I like the new header. It's probably been there a few days but I'm just getting around to commenting on it. :)

  6. I can so relate to Derrick! Socializing is draining, and whenever I'm in the thick of it, I'm usually thinking my own version of "I should be home alone with my yarn." So, I was so happy that people loved Derrick's work and wanted to buy it. Talk about fulfilling! 💖🧶🧶🧶

As for Nic, Felicity's advice that he "Stop thinking it (the holidays) has to be a Hallmark movie," is sound! Nic is very hard on himself. Liv will come around in her own time -- or not. 🚫🎬
