"Are you sure he's taking his medication?" Liv finally got through on a phone call to Dale.
"Yes, I see him take his medication every day," Dale promised Tristan was taking his meds. She knew. At least he'd confided that much to her. She knew he was bipolar. "But I know something is off."
Dale said that he was a little hyper. He seemed to want her everywhere with him. "I think his supervisor makes him nervous." Dale went on to say that his boss had brought her brother and significant other with them too.
"I don't know if it's her or them," Dale thanked Liv for the call. "They have a newborn," Dale spoke of his supervisor's brother.
"I'm just afraid," Liv started. "I'm afraid he won't be the Tristan you are used to." She hated to tell about Tristan's temper.
"I don't think he'd hurt me," Dale told her.
"Well, I'm sure his last girlfriend thought the same thing-"
"It's not that way with us. He tells me everything. He knows I listen to him," Dale said.
"I hope you know what you are getting into. He can- Tristan can be violent," Liv said. There was a silence.
Liv gasped. What if something was already happening? She heard muffled voices.
"Hello? Dale? Dale? Are you still there?"
Silence.
"Hey, I hate to bother you, but I dunno if Heart likes me."
Liv looked over her shoulder to see Sunny more sad than ever. Liv sighed. She hit the icon to call her brother's girlfriend back, but it went to voicemail.
"What happened?" Liv looked at her seriously. Although, she was worried about Dale. Liv wanted to dial 911 but then Dale wasn't at home with Tristan at the moment. She winced hard, unsure what to do.
"He made me the worst pasta ever," Sunny said. "I couldn't eat it."
"Well, I'm sure it was just dinner. I don't think he's giving up on you," Liv told her he'd brought her roses. Had she seen the price of roses lately?
"Did my brother give you roses?" Sunny asked about Valentines Day.
"No." Liv told him not to get her anything. However, he'd given her a CD mix to pop into his CD player in his room of old "trotter" Korean songs the old women spoke of at the Senior center. She could hardly wait to start her step sessions with them.
"I'm sure next time will be better," Liv wasn't sure that was much of a comfort since Sunny didn't seem to think there would be a next time.
