Gregory was feeling settled. He felt better about a lot of things. He liked working for Cori at Mel's Pizza. But when he found out about what was going on with Megan's grandmother he felt bad for Cori too.
"We just have to be here for the pizzeria," he told everyone that if they had to work through Thanksgiving, so be it.
"But," Ali was the first to protest. She had plans with Diago and his family.
"It's not like we'll be open twenty-four seven, but you know, not everyone likes turkey for Thanksgiving."
Gregory shrugged about the matter.
"You don't have to be a Scrooge, you know."
Even Cleo was being a pest about it. She crossed her arms as if she hated the idea of being open on Thanksgiving.
"Fine, we'll close by four p.m."
Gregory was adamant.
"Cori would keep this place closed all day and even close early the day before," Cleo was certain of it.
"Well, we need to bring in as many sales as we can. We need Black Friday."
Gregory told her the more money they could make, the better it would be for the pizzaria.
Everyone sighed, but Diago didn't make it an issue. They had a partial crew. It was hard to keep part-time help. The pizzeria had become his livelihood. This was his family.
"I will make Thanksgiving dinner," he informed them.
"But where?" Cleo looked at him blankly. Their place didn't have the best oven in town.
"Right here," He smiled. After all, he loved a good deep fried turkey.

ReplyDeleteWhat a heartwarming and relatable story! Gregory's dedication to the pizzeria and his team really shines through, and it’s nice to see the balance between business needs and personal connections. I love the twist with Diago offering to make Thanksgiving dinner—it brings a great sense of camaraderie and warmth to the narrative. It’s clear that the pizzeria isn’t just a job for them, but a place where they all come together, even during tough moments. Looking forward to seeing how this Thanksgiving unfolds for them!
