Sweet thing, I watch you Burn so fast it scares me

"Jewel, what's really going on?" Jade had held it in as long as she could. Oh, she'd been good during the holidays. Doing her bet to do a few things with her sister and her cousin Rudy. It had been nice. Cooking foods they used to eat growing up, lots of spicy curry that too three times just to get it right.

But this baby thing worried Jade and now Justin's brother Jared was in the picture.

"I don't know what you mean?" Jewel looked innocent enough as she held her growing stomach, which was tiny in most, except Jade had never seen her sister in this state before.

"Jewel, who's baby is it?" Jade cringed. She didn't want to ask, but she had too. After all, they were alone in Jade's kitchen. Couldn't she just tell her, this once?

"It's going to be OK," Jewel festered a so-called smile, but Jade didn't really believe her. "Everything is fine."

"Is it?" Jade set out the herbal tea before her sister and scooted a few cookies toward her, but Jewel wouldn't take one.

"I'll probably never see him again," she shrugged.

"Is he married?" Jade felt as if she was playing twenty questions.

"I don't know."

"YOU DON'T KNOW!" Jade couldn't help herself. She practically made Jewell jump.

"It was just ..this..convention?"

"Convention?" Jade squinted.

"It wasn't that crazy," Jewel looked at her tea.

Jade fumed, but decided to drink her Tension Tamer Celestial tea. She probably needed it more than her sister did.

"Well, then, what about Jared?" Jade didn't think she'd get anymore out of her sister about the baby's father.

"What about him?"

"What are you two doing?"

Now her sister laughed. She pressed her hand against her forehead and smiled looking away from Jade. Jade thought she might be watching the Jewel show.

"Look, he's new. He..he needs someone to show him around," Jewel shrugged.

"He's got a brother," Jade leaned in across the kitchen table from her sister. "And..and there is always Rudy."

"Rudy's busy." Jewel shrugged. "He's nice."

"Oh, he's nice to look at."

Jade knew the truth. Her sister was smitten.

"He's English." Jewel shrugged.

"Well, so is Justin."

Jade sighed.

"Look, people do date, even when they're pregnant," Jewel told her,

Jade shook her head. She didn't even want to understand it, but it felt like the whole world was going  backward these days. But if Jewel was happy, Jade wasn't going to bring her down. She guessed she would try to like Jared. There was nothing wrong with Jared.  Of course, she didn't think Ari liked him much. After all, he was the one who said Jared needed to go back to England.
