Sammie hated asking Cam for help, but maybe it would have been better to have a crowd when Gabe's Dad arrived.
"Well, maybe he'd like to meet the grownups," Sammie smiled. She had a feeling his Dad would think the worst when he saw her. It did make her uncomfortable, but of course, she only knew Gabe's side about his dad, and Pan swore he didn't know him anymore.
"What are you trying to say?" Cam cracked up. "I'm supposed to be your dad."
"It might be easier if he thought that," Sammie finally confessed. She had tried to call her real dad, but never got through. Maybe he'd changed his phone number. It wasn't like she would have invited him to Easter. She doubted he was even in the States.
"Well, I wouldn't want him to think you didn't have family," Cam decided. "I'll call Mario, and I'm sure Rico will be there too."
"Oh, you know they are both busy with family stuff," Sammie didn't mean to cause any grief.
"We can at least spend Brunch with you, and you don't need to cook a thing," Cam told her.
"I wasn't asking you to make brunch," she looked at him wide-eyed.
"No, you are special to us, and you're gonna have a baby," he reminded her.
Before she knew it she was sitting at his kitchen table, sampling some of the casseroles he'd made.
"Oh, these won't go to waste, Kang will eat anything. And we can always send some leftovers to Trish," he said as he got out some lasagna and an egg bake.
"I don't know if I need all this," she shook her head, no, as he filled a plate of scalloped potatoes and broccoli with rice, too. She was certain she would have to put a veggie tray together for this Brunch.
"We'll have him well fed. It's the least we could do," Cam said he'd make lemon bars and a chocolate pie just for her.
