77. Inside jokes.

"Oh, I remember your mother." Chewy was a little smart-mouthed about this visit that Sunny was expecting.

"Yeah, right." The thought of her mother's visit made her instantly tired as she placed her hands on her lower back. Sunny looked at him out of the corner of her eye.

Chewy was picking up some of his belongings that were still in the room where her mother would stay. Sunny had gotten new bedding and was spending a small fortune to make the room presentable. Of course, Chewy nixed the idea that it shouldn't be a hotel.

"Do you have any recent photos of her?"

"Not really," Sunny shrugged. Neither were they into selfies. As of yet, she hadn't even mentioned Louie to her mother.

"You mean, she thinks you are still at Woo's?"

"I think she knows," she winced, but Sunny hadn't bothered to clarify anything. She would just go on with things.

"You think?" Now, Chewy was giving her the eye, but at least he helped get the new clean sheets on the bed and smoothed down the comforter.

About then, they heard the front door. They both looked at each other. She hoped her mother wasn't here already.

"Are you expecting something from Amazon?"

She shook her head, no. He didn't know Amazon only left stuff downstairs. She went to the door. To her relief, it was not her mother.

"Is Chewy here?" He asked.

"Chewy!" She called, then replied. "He doesn't live here anymore."

"But, he's right behind you?" The guy smirked.

Chewy sighed.

Sunny watched them shake hands and slap each other on the back. It was an old friend from middle school, Jun.

"I thought you and Louie would be together, for sure."

Jun grinned. Sunny was certain she wouldn't like this friend of theirs.

  2. Loved the awkward tension and subtle humor in this one especially the part about Chewy’s Amazon mix-up and Jun’s sly comment. The characters feel so real, and the dialogue is quietly brilliant.

    Looking forward to more!

  3. Motherhood can be really tiring sometimes. Also because you put yourself under pressure and want to do everything perfectly.
