Getting it together

 Jesus, why did her name have to be Olivia and she looked like Jade? Well, not exactly, but he thought of Jade the moment he saw her and then when Tristan found out her name was Olivia. Oh he knew this would not work. But it was just the two of them on a Saturday at Holden's Animal Hospital. Tristan was certain he was doomed.

He didn't feel like a real veterinarian. After all, he hadn't taken the test, and yet he knew enough and when to send the crisis on to the emergency at an animal hospital nearby. Unfortunately, it was just him and Olivia.

The first weekend, he might have been a real prick. Well, he was awful quiet. He didn't want to rattle her. She knew what to do. She could fill out forms on the computer and take care of cats and dogs. She was an Animal Saint. Honestly, he wasn't used to pet behavior. But she was, and he did his best to follow her lead. Sometimes, it was nonstop, and other times, it was such a lull that he wanted to sleep in Holden's office.

Even then, he was dreaming of her, or was that Jade?

No. No. Tristan wanted to keep on track. Just how hard could it be. Wishing he were back with somebody. Anybody but Dale. Still, he did his best to keep his distance. He was certain after a while that Olivia would hate him.

"My sister's name is Olivia," he tried to smile about it, but it was impossible. He knew she hated him, and he understood why. He was the worst of brothers while growing up. God, he was a pest. He wanted to forget how he used to be. He wanted to forget her too. Still, he wished Liv were here in their parents' house with their new family. All the while he had to be ready for the next emergency. 

He couldn't let Holden down. Yes, he knew he deserved this. Deep down, Holden was trying to tell him something. It was time for him to grow up. It was time for him to have a real career.
