Goin' round this roundabout

 "Are you sure everything is going OK with that job of yours?" Trish's curious question over the phone only made Carmen wince more.

"It's fine, they hired me." 

Carmen wanted to put down the phone so she could get to what she was making in the kitchen. Justin and Jared had taken Randy to the University to look around. He would be starting classes soon. 

"And what's that Justin doing these days?"

"He's back at being a page at the hospital. He is learning about X-ray machines. We're all good."

Carmen didn't mean to sigh, but she wished her foster mother wouldn't worry too much. 

"You know, Tristan got on at the Animal Hospital."

Carmen knew Trish was proud of her son, "Good." 

Carmen sliced an onion with the phone in the crook of her neck.

"It's just the weekends. He's still at the zoo."

"And you're still at the zoo." Carmen knew some things hadn't changed, even if she knew Tristan wanted his parents to move back to their house. He'd said it was too big for him.

"Oh, you know, we love it hear, even if I feel like I'm waking up in a jungle every morning." She mentioned how Carmen's nephew was back in school and how much he loved his teacher.

Carmen smiled. Oh, she was certain the honeymoon of starting a new school year would be over soon. If only she had those days back, but she was glad to be at the dance academy and gym. She was happy to be working with Jade, too.
