"What's wrong?" Deano looked at Caitlin as if she was already ill. "You don't have a headache do you?"
She was in his bed and it was morning, but the things Wade said were still on her mind. She shook her head more and made her way to the bathroom where she saw how awful her bedhair was, sticking straight up like she might be from a Dr. Seuss story.
She breathed in then exhaled. She was basically fine and even better after a morning pee. Of course, she phoned Maisy(her boss from the coffee shop) days ago that she was in quartine, just for extra measure because she had been around sick people. So she really wasn't scared of losing her job at the coffee shop. Really, life wasn't that bad.
Of course, the more she thought on it as she hurried to brush her teeth. She knew it wasn't so. Melvin was sick with COVID and Wade was with him. Wade, of all people. Maybe they were a couple, she then thought. She thought of all the things she hated about Wade. She wanted to stop thinking about him. Why did she have to think about him?
"Do you think I should get a test?" She leaned against the bathroom door frame looking at Deano who was getting dressed. He was pale as winter, but fit. He wasn't all that much taller than her, but then again he was tall enough. She imagined being with him ten years from now, would she still be wearing her boy short undies and a black tank, looking at him this way?
Deano said if she was feeling all right, the test could wait.
They were affectionate in a rather addictive way. She'd never been in a relationship this comfortable. She wondered if it was too comfortable. He squeezed in by her to use the toilet and brushed his teeth too.
"Are you sure you're all right?" His clean fingers patted down her messy hair. "But we should go to CVS and get some conditioner. Maybe you'd like to dye your hair some other color."
She liked his thinking. But then again, maybe he thought too much just about her and not of himself. That couldn't be all bad. Of course, the only thoughts Wade had of her were negative. Deano was at least making life better for her. He might not be made of money, but there was more to life than cash. Still, she felt OK in a miserable world and she didn't want to feel guilty about it.
She knew it now, Wade thought Deano was an enabler. She looked back at Deano and she kissed him as if she was up for anything he might dance into with her. She didn't care what Wade said. She would do whatever she wanted with Deano.
Very interesting 😊
ReplyDeleteI could see why her friends worry about her

ReplyDeleteThis couple is indeed intense, and there are enough twists to keep waiting for the next chapter. 😄
ReplyDeleteFortunately, with time, after years, a bit of charm in the relationship stays. But there is also much more love
ReplyDeleteWhoa. Caitlin's relationship with Deano is complicated. Or, maybe it's simple and everything else going on is complicated. I especially like this line, which seems to sum it up best: "Still, she felt OK in a miserable world and she didn't want to feel guilty about it." These days, I think that's a sentiment we can all agree with!
ReplyDeleteYeah, we have to enjoy the little things in life.
