Cori would have never known it was Valentine's day if it weren't for all the heart-shaped pepperoni pizzas. He knew Melvin had it in mind months ago, so he needed to see it through. Also, Caitlin was here with the rushes which kind of bothered him.
"I don't understand," he said after the last rush. "Why are you working here and not at the Coffee Shop? I'm not even paying you."
She only shrugged. "Well, if Deano is here, I want to be here."
Cori rolled his eyes. He knew he shouldn't get into it with Caitlin. After all, Megan was still furious with her.
"Besides, I can smoke all the pot I want, at Deano's." She sounded as if he was a winner. "Megan can be a real mother, you know?" He knew she was smiling even in a black mask.
Cori only sighed. "She is right. We can't have any kind of tobacco in the apartment. Smoke is smoke. It's a rule."
"Whatever," she shrugged as if she was OK with it.
"Are you moving out?" Cori wanted to know.
"Yeah," she exaggerated. "As soon as we get a bigger bed."
Cori gave her a slight cough because he felt a tickle in his throat wondering what kind of bed did they need.
"Are you sick?" She snapped. He shook his head no.
Later Cori brought home some heart-shaped pizza. Just as he was about to tell Megan the Caitlin news he noticed Dylan was with Tori. Maybe Megan was making it a party of some kind, but they wore their mask for the most part when they talked, but only when they ate did they take them off.
"Caitlin sounds pretty dead set on being with Deano," Cori finally said. "But she wants them to get a bigger bed."
"How big does it have to be?" Dylan wanted to know.
"I didn't ask," Cori couldn't help but lightly laugh.
"What can you tell us about Deano?" Megan was still curious. Cori was sure she'd googled him. Possibly, she didn't find anything on him.
"Average," Cori shrugged. "He's a good worker. He pays attention."
"Yeah, probably too attentive to Caitlin," Megan bit into a carrot.
"There's nothing wrong with that, is there?" Cori looked at her puzzled.
"I don't think she deserves it," Megan went off on a rant about how she always ended up washing her clothes and how she never washed dishes unless she told her to.
"Caitlin has her issues," Dylan admitted she was not the best co-worker. He usually had to do most of it.
"Well, she's working hard for me," Cori let them know. He was beginning to think he better put her on the payroll.
great dear!

I love the line "...never would have known it was Valentine's Day if it wasn't for the heart shaped pizza". Hysterical, and so true for a lot of men.
ReplyDeleteNothing like watching a man at the grocery store racing around with a bouquet of flowers on Valentines day! Thanks so much for your comment!
DeleteThey are good friends to Caitlin
ReplyDeleteThat is nice :-)
ReplyDeleteThe Heart-Shaped Pizza needs to be a year-round specialty!

Uy genial capitulo a pesar de todos unidos. Te mando un beso
ReplyDeleteHeart-shaped pizza sounds good :)
ReplyDeleteAnd the plot thickens! So Megan definitely isn't on team Caitlin-Deano. You'd think she'd be glad not to have to nag Caitlin to do the dishes anymore! Still, maybe underneath her judginess, she's a genuinely concerned friend. The whole needing a bigger bed thing is really funny. Nice touch!
ReplyDeleteOh, the bed is always important to a relationship. hahaha...
DeleteCaitlin is very serious with Deano and Megan seems to disagree with her relationship. Could it be that she senses something bad?
ReplyDeleteLove it.
