You can be a good person with a kind heart and still say no

"Well, somebody has to be her mother," Megan said that night when she was pulling off her beauty mask and getting ready for bed while Cori was in their room looking at something on his laptop.

Megan told him that Caitlin's mother was out of the picture these days with her new family. "I can't believe she said I'm a REAL MOTHER." She exaggerated.

Cori smirked only to keep from laughing.

"Why does she hate me so much?" She bent down and put her arms on the top of his shoulders while he was looking at something on GOOGLE.

"She doesn't like to be told what to do," Cori simply said. "You know, you don't either."

Megan winced at that. She went to throw the covers back and fluffed the assorted pillows. Some she tossed to the floor.

"But why? Why would she sleep with a guy she just met?" Megan knew it wasn't much different from Caitlin being with Brad the dancer nor even Melvin. "I'm beginning to think she's not from this country at all."

"Well, she's alive and doing well with Dean," Cori said. "Maybe she feels she didn't get enough love as a kid. I have no idea, but she has her own way of doing things. Life is short." He looked back at Megan. "And what about Dylan and Tori? That's new."

"I kind of saw that happening long before Christmas," Megan told him. "There was just a little set back with Frankie coming to town and I guess Melvin didn't help matters, either."

Cori nodded and got off the laptop, shutting it tight.

"Maybe it was time," Megan said.

"Is he moving in?" Cori wasn't sure he liked having another guy around.

"If anything, she'll move in with him," Megan shrugged, getting comfy with the pillows.

"Then what? We have to get new roommates?" Cori looked at her as if that would be worse than taking a course in Russian literature.

"Maybe."

He winced hard as he sat at the edge of the bed. She got up and massaged his shoulders.

"I was thinking we should get our own place, but now, I don't know," Megan said she felt responsible somehow for taking care of the place. "I was hoping Caitlin would take responsibility."

She felt his laugh and he reached back to kiss her as if some things could take care of themselves on their own.

  1. Interesting chapter, I like the title a lot. Maybe they should get their own place after all...or get a new roommate.

  4. The drama with Megan and Caitlin continues! I'm interested to see how it plays out. Also, the title really grabbed my attention: "You can be a good person with a kind heart and still say no." It's so true but sometimes so hard to learn!
