"I really didn't know just how bad things were for Hope," Caitlin let Deano know as soon as she got home from work. He hadn't been home long either. He was boiling water for some pasta.
"What do you mean?" He made her a cup of caffeine-free tea while she changed into her nightly attire which meant her going nowhere clothes. Of course, he didn't look much better in his ripped tee and sleep pants. "Who are you talking about?"
"My old roommate," she explained. "Remember that girl Kyle brought to Roman's dinner?"
He looked at her blankly. Deano barely remembered who Kyle was. "Oh, him, the guy from the coffee shop." He sighed.
"That was Hope." Caitlin's gaze was serious. "Do you think they're together?"
"It looked like it to me," Deano shrugged and went back to the stove to toss in some onion and peppers in the sizzling ground meat.
"I don't know what to think, but Hope is mixed up in something." Caitlin leaned against the kitchen doorway and watched him.
"I thought she liked Frankie." This was according to Megan and all the texting she'd texted him about.
"I am not so sure."
He went on with the meal and she sipped her tea and looked on her phone for a bit. She asked about the pizzeria and Melvin. Of course, no one seemed to know anything these days about Melvin.
"Cori just keeps going, you know." Deano shrugged and Caitlin nodded.
Finally, the plates of pasta arrived and Deano poured some wine.
"I guess I should be friends with her more," Caitlin said after she'd wolfed down the pasta and poured herself a glass of milk and pushed the wine away.
"Sure, you should." Deano agreed. He wasn't sure what he was exactly supposed to do about it.
"Ask Roman about Kyle."
"Kyle?" Now he was stumped. He winced. He was still thinking Hope was with Frankie. He guessed the only thing he knew for sure Hope was not with the father of her baby.
It's a mystery.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting ;)
ReplyDeleteUy pronto va a ver problemas. Genial fragmento te mando un beso
ReplyDeletequite interesting....
ReplyDeleteHola!! que interesante, creo que se van a liar a lo grande
ReplyDeleteSomeday the truth will come out. I hope the child will not be disadvantaged in all of this
ReplyDeleteWoow interesting!
ReplyDeleteVery interesting chapter. I think the father of the child is not always the one. At any rate, the father figure is a man who stands by and not necessarily the biological father.
ReplyDeleteLots of stuff going on here, plus a little friction between Deano and Caitlin. Caitlin seems genuinely concerned about Hope. On another note, reading this part made me think of back when I used to change out of my work clothes: "she changed into her nightly attire which meant her going nowhere clothes. " You really captured this very special kind of relief!
