Nobody said it was easy

 Kyle was in total shock. He had to admit he wasn't sure if he really had all his shit together to be ready for the next chapter in Hope's life.

He winced as he waited out in the emergency room with Hope who was hooked up to so many monitors. He couldn't help but hold her hand. He could see her suffering and he hated it.

Sure he'd been around plenty of babies all his life. He'd helped out from newborns to those who started school, but he'd never been on this side of it. Honestly, he hated to see Hope in so much pain. 

"Well, we are not going to keep you," the young doctor said about three hours later. After all, they'd given her a stress test which made the labor pains persist. He said it was a false alarm. Everyone was healthy.

"But you've got to take it easy," the doctor's last words. Still, it all felt so vague to Kyle. This trip left his heart in a rush and he knew they needed to get ready for the arrival of the baby. 

As they were getting ready to go, Kyle asked, "Did I  hear him right, the baby might be here before the fourth?"

Hope nodded and said she felt so bad for him coming to the emergency with her. "You won't get any sleep, you have to get up early to open the coffee shop."

"It's OK," he promised. "I'll sleep later." Although, he would be happy for a twenty-minute nap. Naturally, he had to text Megan, Caitlin, and even Frankie. They were worried. It wasn't until now that he knew, Frankie was going nowhere. He'd probably be the rich uncle that treated Hope's baby like a princess. 

As soon as they got home they had to have a look at the baby's room.

"Have you thought of any names?" He asked.

Hope nodded but was straight-lipped. "I want to name her after my grandmother." She said she'd been thinking about it the entire time she was at the emergency. "I want to name her Jewel."
