Chase those blues away

Dylan felt he'd found a friend in Kyle. There was always so much to talk about, especially the Coffee Shop. Truth be told, he missed his old job. He even missed his old boss Mazie.

"Oh, you know, she got married to Tommy," Kyle filled him in while they were in the kitchen getting a little tea party together for the girls.

"What?" Dylan didn't know. It gave him a happy hopeful feeling, knowing those two got together. "When did that happen?"

"Around the fourth when it was still OK to get to Vegas, I guess." Kyle smiled.

"Babe, did you hear that?" He called from the kitchen.

"What?" Tori called back as if she might as well be in a different Universe.

"Mazie and Tommy got married." He grinned but he doubted Tori would be that happy about it. Tommy was her old roommate and she wasn't really fond of him even if he did treat her like a little sister he was tired of having around.

"Awesome." She might as well be on autopilot.

"I'm worried about her," he then said to Kyle about Tori.

"Why?" Kyle looked at him puzzled. Dylan went on to brew the tea in the teapot. There was a teaspoon of sugar in the bottom of the pot. This was the way Tori liked it, even if she wasn't supposed to have any sugar these days.

"Oh, it's complicated." He felt the tears surface. "I haven't quite figured out how to make things better. Maybe it's just insecurities. I mean, I know she's going through so much to be in this crazy situation."

Kyle nodded. Dylan had told him about how Tori had been drugged and then raped and now that person died of COVID. It wasn't exactly something he wanted to share with everyone. After all, Tori never spoke of it. It was as if Melvin never existed in the first place.

Dylan felt he hadn't seen Tori's real smile in a good long while. He hoped baby Jewel would cheer her up.

    1. Oh, go poor Tori has suffered quite a bit, somehow I feel Dylan's worry to see a person you care about so badly ♥ I am sure it's an uneasiness all of Tori's friends feel when around her.

  4. Tori has suffered so much no wonder she sometimes switches on autopilot. Defense mechanism, I think.

  7. "There was a teaspoon of sugar in the bottom of the pot. This was the way Tori liked it, even if she wasn't supposed to have any sugar these days." I always find it poignant when people give people they love foods they know they're not supposed to have. As in, I know this might put you in the hospital, but I care more about your immediate happiness. Maybe that's weird. But it seemed like a welcome light in this otherwise bleak situation with Tori. Dylan really wants to help her but seems to be coming to the end of his rope. Also, I can't help but think about what you said in one of your comments about Tori being some kind of demon (at least I think that was it), and it makes me wonder which way this will go. Compelling as always, Ellie.

  8. I forgot to ask: Is that Kat Dennings in the collage? Is she Mazie?

  9. This reminds me of a scene from a K-drama, “High Society” in which something similar happened with the spoon. 😊
