Somewhere over the rainbow

 "Yes, we're home, but..but.." Cori sighed. "Megan doesn't want to see anyone." He told Deano over the phone.

"What's wrong?" Deano wanted to know. He told Cori that Caitlin couldn't wait to see her. They'd made plans to meet up with them at the downtown brunch places.

"Um," Cori winced hard. "I want to tell you, but she won't let me." That was all he could say. "She's kind of..under the weather."

"Under the weather?" It was as if Deano had picked up Cori's code completely. "You don't say."

Cori could already feel Deano's smile over the phone.

"Don't say anything." It was true, he had not said one word about what had happened. Besides, Megan needed to give the news to her grandmother first. But as of yet, he thought Megan was going to wait until she was at least six months pregnant before she would share the news with anyone. As it was she was practically three months.

Still, it baffled him that they didn't know sooner. But oh well. It was good news. Clearly good news.

When he got off the phone, Cyrus and Pixie showed up with Cora. Naturally, she ran to Cori as if she very well knew who he was. Of course, she was a bit of a flirt the way she fell into his arms and wanted him to toss her in the air, but he wasn't nearly as wild as it must have been with her father. What were they, wrestlers of some sort? 

"Has she been good?" He asked. 

"As good as she can be," Cyrus grinned. "She draws a lot, especially on the walls."

Cori nodded as he held her at the hip but she was on his back before he knew it, practically climbing on his shoulders.

"Yeap, her favorite spot." Cyrus nodded.

"She likes high places," Pixie noted.

"Good to know," Cori sighed, thinking she was practically an imp instead of a princess.

"Where's Megan?" Pixie wanted to know.

"She's laying down."

"Is it Covid?" Cyrus wanted to know.

"No."

They both nodded. "Do you want her stay with us?" They both asked.

"Um.." He hated to say yes. Of course, before he could answer, Meme walked in and scolded Cora immediately. To Cori's surprise, Cora came right down as if she was a good little soldier, after all.
