A lot of things baffled Caitlin as of late. She hadn't remembered the last time she had a period. Next thing she knew she was well over three months pregnant and of course, nowhere to be found the evidence about Wade.
She slammed her heavy bag down on Pan's desk. He was busy on his computer, of course. The police station was humming in progress but no one kept her from going into the Evidence Room.
"Happy now?" She blurted. Possibly, Caitlin looked like shit with her hair array, but she wasn't into trending lately. A good pair of sneakers was all she needed. Never mind if a baby bump was already showing. She crossed her arms and gave him a peeved look with a tilt of the head.
"What?" He looked as if he might be ready for the firing squad. His girlish figure made her all the more inquisitive. She had no idea he was of this caliber.
"YOU."
Her swelled frown persisted as if he might be the demon himself.
"I ...I don't know what you mean," Pan sputtered as he reached for his cold cup of coffee.
"IT WAS YOUR DNA!" Her voice was thunder and he spewed back the coffee on a few papers at his desk.
He put down the cup and returned to his work on the computer monitor.
"How could you?" She felt sad for him. Wade would surely kill him in the end.
Pan shrugged.
"I know the baby is not yours," Caitlin snapped. "But really?" She squinted hard in disbelief. "What's he got on you?"
Pan said nothing. The silence hummed through the building of phones and quaint voices. Pan wouldn't even look at her.
"Holy fuck'n shit," Caitlin scowled. "When did you fall in love with Wade?"

It's kind of a long story. Caitlin has a theory about Wade who she had met back in college and had a crush on. Of course, he never paid her any mind. She became suspicious of him when a close friend of hers died of Covid in the hospital but his body was never found (he was a friend of Wade's) Meanwhile, her roommate got pregnant after after going out with the friend that was a friend of Wade's) Everyone thought, it was their friend's baby who died. But Caitlin never thought the baby looked like Melvin. She is also a social worker, now pregnant with her second child. She used to work with Pan and she wanted him to become friends with Wade. Pan found out that Wade has a twin brother who did a lot of bad things. However, Wade works as a detective at the police department and he has done a lot to clear his name. But Caitlin doesn't believe him. After he moved in with Pan she took a sample of his DNA. And then she found out it was Pan's DNA instead. And well, Wade and Pan have gotten together.
