as you go

Cori wasn't sure he could stand and listen to all of Melvin's questions about Caitlin. There was a time he thought of his friend like an older brother, now he felt Melvin was a little too needy for his own good.

Cori kept his hands on his hips thinking he couldn't take much more of this. After all, there was a lot on his mind. He didn't even sleep in his new bed last night. Not that he'd mention this to Melvin who had real relationship problems.

It was only and an accident with Megan. Not that anything happened. They'd talked a good while about what they liked to eat for breakfast. She seemed troubled about something. Maybe it was Caitlin and Melvin. After all, Cori could see she was a caring friend even if she didn't always act like it.

She reminded him of all of Caitlin's unsuccessful adventures with lovers.

"Maybe she's never had an orgasm," Megan told him. Cori only looked at her wide-eyed. He'd never thought of such a thing. Not even with himself. Thankfully, she didn't dwell on the art of it or anything. Megan was casual that way. If she felt like saying fuck she'd say it and it sounded like a natural word she could use. Although, he'd never said it to anyone.

Finally, she told him she couldn't sleep that was when he mentioned bedtime yoga.

"Well, I've never heard of that," she looked at him puzzled as if that might be a new term for a sex act, but he assured her it was something she could do on her own. He'd seen a video. He could send her the link.

So they watched it together and tried it out. It was a little awkward and giggly, but he smiled about it now, feeling he could possibly do nothing with Megan. And that's what they did. Nothing but sleep.

It felt wonderful to finally sleep. Honestly, he hadn't felt this energetic in ages.

"Well, I hope you hear from her," Cori finally smiled with a nod once Melvin's madness about Caitlin quietened.

"You think I will?" Melvin looked awful depressed.

"You two should talk more," Cori shrugged.

"You think?" Melvin looked more innocent than Cori knew he was. Melvin got phone calls all the time from girls, but he was so concerned with Caitlin. Evidently, she was different.

"Maybe bring her ..uh..a cupcake next time," Cori told her she might get tired of pizza that was just messed up orders.

"Oh."

"And..and maybe you shouldn't spend the night," Cori winced. "Or..or come over so late."

Cori gritted a smile hoping he hadn't hurt Melvin's feelings. "You know, take it slow. Sometimes, less is more."

"I know." Melvin shrugged.

"I knew you would," when Cori grinned he winked. "You're a great friend. Thanks for finding me a place to live."

"Don't mention it, buddy," Melvin gave him a pat on the back and went to do something in his little office.

Cori cringed. He hated being anybody's buddy, especially a guy buddy. He pushed his fingers through his messy hair. Hopefully, nothing was weird with Melvin, Cori thought. Sometimes, he thought his strange imagination would get the best of him.
