Megan planted herself at her laptop through another hour on Google place with one of Hope's students. It was so awful out there. All this remote learning going on. It was a headache to parents, the loss of life to that happy teacher and this was now the new norm, evidently.
But Megan got paid. She couldn't complain. In fact, it was a dream come true to work from home. Naturally, when the student asked about Hope, Megan had to wonder why Hope wasn't doing this instead of her.
So she called. Thankfully, she heard Hope's voice. "What are you doing?" Megan asked as if it was from a life-saving perspective but Hope answered back that she was washing dishes.
"What?" Megan tensed. Hope was a scholar. No way could Megan compete with all of Hope's knowledge. Megan had been a summer camp counselor a time or two but it was easy to see she needed to study every night for lessons. No way could she wing it.
"Are you really OK?" Megan asked hoping for the truth. She'd met Hope's ex before and he was an arrogant sort. He was almost a professor but got a little ahead of himself. Then one of his students got pregnant and now this. What did Hope even see in him? Yes, she was a nerdy angel of sorts, always to the rescue.
Hope told her they were living in a tiny RV off the beaten path in Colorado now.
"Holy shit! Are you serious?" Megan stood up and had to walk around for a bit.
"We are OK." But from the sound of it, Megan was sure Kenny had lost all his marbles.
"What about you? Anything new?" Hope asked.
"Oh, yeah...we did get a new roommate." Megan nodded. She didn't want to say much more. Megan didn't want to tell her she was already sleeping with Cori. She'd never understand it. Nobody would understand why.
look like short story....interesting.
