not another problem

Megan's room was dimly lit with her Kindle Fire on as some relaxing Chinese piano music played. She did her best to recreate the Child Pose that Cori did ever so agile the night before. She knew he should be a yoga instructor. God, he was good at everything, she thought. Which made her hesitate even more to try to get into the yoga state of relaxation. She nodded her head. No way, could she relax. But she tried.

She closed her eyes and thought of him. A bubble of laughter emerged, but she held it in. Oh, she was too cheesy for him. He was uber-cute.

She didn't want to think of him that way. He was her roommate, but it was easy to see they were going to be friends. She'd be a good listener. And he'd find a girlfriend soon..and, and she would be there to listen to all his troubles. She nodded and took a deep breath.

She'd be a big sister. Probably a sister he never had and he'd be..he'd be a little brother she never had. It was to be set in stone in her head. She couldn't let it slip somehow, that she hated the whole idea of it being this way. But it was supposed to. It had to be. It would. Done.

She swayed her body to the right then the left. Megan was certain she was doing all this too fast but finally, she settled to propping her feet against the wall while she laid in bed with her hands on her stomach. Yes, this would be her religion. She would think of beautiful clouds, running water, lovely trees, tweeting birds..and...

Her door open. Someone out of breath. Her eyes sprang open. It was Cori.

"What!" She twisted too soon and thought she sprained something somewhere that was never supposed to be sprained like her thigh, "Ow!" She yelped. Her right leg was in pain, but she awkwardly set up, "What's wrong?" She looked at him bug-eyed as if there might be a snake in his room.

He was holding his pillow and his hair was in his eyes. He was fully clothed as if he could go for a jog if need be.

He kept breathing heavily, but she patted down a space for him to sit next to her.

"I..I heard something," he barely spoke above a whisper.

"Something?" Megan looked at him, "It was probably the neighbors. He watches TV all night. I forgot to tell you about that." Possibly, the walls were a bit thin, but it wasn't awful.

"I don't think so."

"Should I take a look?" She tried to get up but she could barely move her right side. She was in a limp.

"No." He said she was hurt and he apologized for not knocking. He checked out her foot, but it was actually her hip or knee. She didn't know for sure. It hurt.

"I'm getting so old," she told him she was practically thirty. She needed to keep reminding herself of this.

"You look like you're twelve," he told her.

"Thanks, I guess," she winced as he kneaded her leg with both hands. She didn't think it would help, but it felt really good. Maybe too good. She really wanted to sleep now. Finally, she gave in. He could sleep here. They'd worry about the noises tomorrow.
