What Autumn brings

Caitlin brought fast food from down the street, a bag of burgers and fries along with a carton of soda pop. She would show her support but hadn't expected an extra and no Melvin.

Funny, how hate could bring out something she hadn't expected. Sleeping with Melvin. She guessed it was meant to be, but she wasn't sure it would ever happen again. She could see it took a lot of effort on each of them. At least, sleep was the best part.

But she wasn't here to smirk about it. She'd said some horrible things to Melvin and maybe she'd made Dylan out to be the most perfect guy in the world, yet it happened and she hoped Melvin was good for the rest of winter because she was done with all this sex stuff. Time to move on and get to those reports and papers she needed to study and write at the Uni.

"Oh, who's this?" Caitlin asked with a smile and got out a burger for her and fries. Caitlin didn't care if Melvin ate or not. It was time for the band to take a break. It was going on eight at night.

"This is Tori," Tommy's smile was open as if she might be his girl, who was singing backup and keyboard.

Tori thanked her for the burger. Tommy mentioned that Tori was an opera singer.

"Wow, that's great!" Caitlin was impressed. She looked over a Cori who sat at the drums like a frightened bunny not sure where to run.

"Well, I'm taking a break now," Tori shrugged. She was still studying music at the Uni and hadn't performed this past year in opera.

"She decided to do something different," Tommy nodded as if there might be a secret involved.

Obviously, Caitlin thought the worst. Maybe Tori had a torrid affair with some old conductor and was incognito now.

"Do..do you guys still have a room for rent?" Tommy piped in that Tori was tired of staying on his couch. He said she worked with patients over the phone who were having eye surgeries.

"Oh," Caitlin thought that sounded good. "Yeah." She liked the idea immediately. "It's doable."

"I can bring her over after practice," Tommy sounded as if it were a done deal.

"Yeah, let's do that." Caitlin was full of laughter. It was as if she'd done her deed for the day and Cori looked like a lost puppy who didn't want to eat.
