winter is coming

 Megan looked over Tori's credentials on her laptop. Yes, Tori looked like the perfect roommate on paper, but she could see the uneasiness in Cori's eyes. If only Caitlin could have kept her mouth shut and let the three decide on this, but she didn't.

Tori was already here and making herself at home in the room that Cori couldn't sleep in. Tommy was here too so maybe he was her boyfriend, but Cori didn't think so.

"He says she's like the little sister he never had," Cori tilted his head to the side as if that indicated they were not really together. She'd been sleeping on his couch.

Megan squinted, hating the thought of making someone homeless.

"Maybe it's best to have your enemies closer," Megan found herself saying. Cori blinked as if that was just nonsense.

"I know you're afraid, but you're with me," Megan would man up if Cori didn't. "We will give it a trial of three weeks."

"No two." He held up two fingers. 

"All right," Megan nodded so she went to tell them. After all, it was a spur of the moment kind of thing. At least Tori agreed. She told Megan she rarely ate at home. "You won't even know I'm here."

Megan seriously doubted that. Tori's big keyboard took up a whole corner of the room, and she brought tubs of yarn. It was as if she were a hoarder of some sort. She seemed to keep busy.

"We do like to eat meals together, but..but you don't have to." Megan sighed wondering if it would get crowded in the apartment, especially if the yarn got out of hand.

Tori already set up her electric toaster oven and kettle. There were boxes of pop-tarts and Ramen. Megan hoped that wasn't all the girl lived on. 

"Well, if you feel like talking-" Megan gritted, but she could see Cori didn't like the idea at all.

"I promise," Tori smiled. "I'll be quiet as a mouse and Tommy is like a big brother I never had."
