You're in my blood..You're in my head

Caitlin thought she'd figured it out now. She'd done some searching online. She found some quotes Harry Style said and she thought Melvin memorized them. Oh, he disgusted her so. She thought she would walk around forever with a bad taste in her mouth.

There were sleepless nights. She would awake certain he was a stalker of some kind. It didn't seem possible and yet it did.

All she could do was try to focus on her classes. This was no time to lose it. No, she needed to maintain some sort of normal life so she went to the library. If she wasn't working she was there with her head stuck in a book or busy on her laptop. This was the good life. Or so she kept telling herself this as she felt her body go stiff and wishing she was anywhere but here.

But at least she didn't see Melvin. It was hard to forget him in the beginning. It was worse than nicotine, but somehow she drank enough caffeine to keep going. Sometimes, she'd forget to eat nor how to dress for the weather, just a hoodie and her flannel pants. As it was she'd lost her bra, but that was the least of her worries.

And then one day she saw him in the stacks of the library with his headphones on. Instantly, Caitlin felt dizzy. It was such a eutrophic connection. She felt so light inside as if she were walking on air. Possibly, he was the most beautiful being on earth who never spoke.

It was as if he were a visiting alien of some kind who moved to his own vibe. He was tall, awkwardly lanky but full of rhythm. Naturally, he didn't notice her. Caitlin was okay with that.

"We could have such beautiful babies," she told Megan one night in the bathroom while Megan was brushing her teeth. Megan almost gagged on her toothpaste, looking at Caitlin wide-eyed.

"You've never said that about anyone. Especially, a guy." Megan looked at her as if she might be ill. "What about Melvin?"

"What about him?" The subject of Melvin was mute, but she knew she needed to tell Megan about him. "He's really not all there, you know. I think he might be dangerous."

"Oh, a lot like Trump?"

Caitlin nodded. Caitlin hoped Melvin wouldn't give her any trouble. Still, she could feel alive just watching Wade dance to the music on his headphones. He did that sometimes out in the park near the library. If only Caitlin knew how to dance. She'd asked him if he could teach her. Naturally, it made him smile as if it was really up to her, not him.

  7. Interesting to read about Caitlin seeing Melvin in a different (negative) light. I wonder what will happen with her feelings for him in the future.
