Home alone

A part of Megan felt she and Cori missed out, but they were home alone and they made the most of it. They had their own catching up to do. She felt he was overworked and didn't dare ask about sick Melvin who was apparently hanging on nor the whereabouts of Wade. It would definitely spoiled the mood. Instead, they had tacos and margaritas and talked about where they might go this summer. Totally doubtful, but they could dream. Then it was time for Netflix, but Cori found an action-packed Chinese drama on Prime so they watched enough Martial Arts fighting to last them possibly for the rest of the month.

And then it was just the two of them in bed. Thankfully, he didn't stand on his head, like he teased, but it was cozy and for a while, it felt as if the place was their own. They even got in a shower together afterward.

Of course, by morning he was worried about Hope. She'd stayed out too late with Kyle.

"I'm going to let him know he can't ever do that again," Cori informed Megan while he was scrambling eggs.

Megan only laughed. "She has a right to have some fun, you know."

"Not..not with Deano's friends." He shook his head. "I don't even know if Kyle cares about her, but she is with child."

"Fine, you tell him what to do then," She went to put the toast on their plates from the toaster. She would have none of it. She was starting to settle on the fact that Kyle was not who she remembered. And it was best to only think of him as a roommate she would never know.

"I will," Cori nodded.

Still, he kept Megan in laughter. She wasn't sure if he was trying to be Kyle's mentor or possibly drive him away from wanting to live here.

"Maybe we should have a dinner party," Megan knew more people were COVID vaccinated now. She really would love to get together with Caitlin.

  1. Megan's inner thoughts are an attention grabber: "Kyle was not who she remembered. And it was best to only think of him as a roommate she would never know." She seems to be struggling with Kyle being into guys, or at the very least, Roman. Still, Cori seems to be the more judgmental one outwardly, as far as Hope is concerned. Interesting. Great job in crafting some complicated characters!

    1. Oh, I like the statement you made about how she thought of Kyle. Although, I think it goes farther back than Kyle & Roman incident. I think she only has Kyle as a reminder of a childhood sweetheart she never knew what happened too. I also think her feelings toward Cori are maturing, as well. So as one might say.. even our memories are evolving.

  5. I am of the opinion that you must not get involved in someone else's life - everyone lives on their own account.

  6. Yet another beautiful chapter, Ellie!
I agreed with Megan, let her be, she’s old enough to make her own decisions. A dinner would be great to bring them all together.
