New places and new faces

 

Roman wasn't certain why he put so much effort into finding a replacement for himself at the coffee shop. He hoped it worked out for Pixie and Cyrus. Maybe they weren't a real couple, but still, they could be a working one. Who knew, maybe they were the best kind of couple.

Naturally, LaLa was giving him a hard time. She didn't like his late work schedule and why was he tired all the time. Honestly, it was a sad reminder that this was all he had to look forward to after a long day at the hospital. Also, he felt as if he was in a dungeon of some kind. It was easy to get lost at the hospital, but damn if there wasn't this attendant that followed him around ever so often.

It kind of creeped him out in the beginning. Finally, one night Roman turned just in time to look the guy in the face. "Who are you? What are you doing here?" Perhaps he was gruff and he made the kid jump. "Stop following me."

"But, you always get lost," he sounded a little sad and timid. "I..was just trying to help." After all, Roman was about to walk into a broom closet.

"Got it." Roman felt he might as well be a robot by now. The higher-ups always barking orders. Usually,  it was just the kid around. His hair was kind of shaggy, but there was something sweet about his smile, even if Roman did his best not to look at him. "You got a name?" He told him he didn't want to call him Kid all the time. 

"Eddie." He nodded.

"Eddie?" Roman winced. He didn't look like an Eddie to him, but what would he know. He told him he was Roman.

"Seriously?" His eyes lit up and he smiled. "Sweet."

"Are you high or something?" Roman winced hard.

"No, do you need some?" He asked.

Roman chuckled.

"Just what kind of Eddie are you?" Roman smiled back, but Eddie wouldn't say. They had to get back to work.
