Cyrus was at a loss as to what to do with a child around so he took his cue from Pixie. Thankfully, Cori hadn't been full of questions about the living situation with Pixie, either. He didn't dare want to make a big deal about that.
Of course, they got a little help from Bea, early in the morning. She watched Cora while they worked at the coffee shop. Really, Cyrus could never imagine life so fast, but everything got done thanks to Pixie. And Cora was really no trouble. She loved to have pages to scribble on and she didn't cry much.
"You know, I noticed Cora calls you Mommie, a lot." Cyrus had to say one evening as she was getting Cora ready for bed which was a little mattress next to Cyrus' bed.
"Maybe she calls everyone Mommie," Pixie said as if she didn't have a second thought about it.
"But, but what if you look like her Mommie," Cyrus asked.
"I highly doubt that," Pixie laughed, but she tended to Cora with ease. "It's not a big deal."
Still, it worried Cyrus that maybe Cora didn't live in a good home. They were a good home to her.
"But it is," Cyrus told her. He did his best to take part. He watched Cora and interacted with her. He even read books to her. Sometimes, she would fall asleep when they watched TV together.
"Don't even go there," Pixie gave him a look that he was just being impossible now. Cyrus smiled back.
"I know you'd make a good one," Cyrus told her.
"Well, this is only..only while Cori and Megan are on a honeymoon." She sighed then as if there wasn't a big enough salary for a job like this.
Cyrus nodded, but he really could imagine it. Although, in his head, he wasn't sure how she could get there. Not that he could be a part of that. He shook his head. He was doing well enough to help out with meals and make sure Cora had all her rubber duckies for bath time.
Yes, it was better to leave well enough alone. He liked having Pixie with him. And most important she could spend time with him. After all, it was the perfect togetherness. Why mess that up?
Great post 😊

Uy yo creo que se va complicar las cosas. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteYes, why mess it up? Things seem alright. At the same time, it makes sense to plan the next step. Maybe he is ready for something more.

ReplyDeleteI think he should take things one day at a time - give Pixie a chance to decide what she wants as well.

It’s a big decision. Pixie needs time to decide what she wants. Regine

What a sweet post! I love how Cyrus is so concerned about Cora and wants her to have a good home. Still, when he hinted to Pixie that they should consider having a little one, I was like, what?! I think Pixie was right to hit pause. It's a lot to think about, especially for a new and young couple. It's good that at the end Cyrus gets it. That said, little sleeping Cora is pretty adorable. :)
ReplyDeleteBy the way, that squirrel dream sounds intense. And I'm not so sure it wouldn't be a fine addition to one of your stories!
