On a night like tonight

Mona really didn't want to be the third wheel. She was so disappointed in Nic. What was she going to do with this guy? After all, he was her answer to summer. Or was he her graduation present? She winced hard as she put on the last of her mascara. Rico would be here any minute with Liv.

What was she thinking? Oh, she would give them both hell. There was really no reason to be nice to those two. She wouldn't dare admit she envied them, but it was true. She did. If only Rico had paid her more attention. If only?

Mona studied her makeup. She put on a bit more sticky gloss and hoped it wasn't too much. It was weird to be the third wheel. If she'd stayed with Tristan, she would have had a Prom date. Of course, it took her a second to remember how she'd gotten him to find his sister like he did and how that played out.

Yes, this was all her own damned fault. But she didn't care. She was free as a bird. Not under his reign. She knew she needed to thank Liv, but she wouldn't dare.

It wasn't long until they arrived. And they were not alone. Nic was with them.

Mona, felt ever so happy, but Nic looked at her as if he was in the wrong place.

"Oh, no you don't," she took him by the arm.

Liv and Rico looked at the two of them as if they didn't know.

"Oh, we know each other," Mona's smile was open as if they went way back.

"Really?" Rico said as they were getting into his Dad's trusty SUV.

"Not that well," Nic insisted.

"Well, enough." She gave him the eye that he best behave.

"I'm glad this is working out," Liv looked back at Mona with a smile. She did look pretty in her prom frock.

Mona knew now, this might be the only time any of them would dress up so perfectly. She guessed she needed to make the most of this evening.

  3. I love how you made this come together! All of Mona's indecision and worry boils down to enjoying the moment: "Mona knew now, this might be the only time any of them would dress up so perfectly. She guessed she needed to make the most of this evening."

The black and blush lace dress is so classic and pretty. I adore the contrast of it against the funky black butterfly backpack and floral combat boots. :)
